whole salmon from columbia river fish company

Salmon season for tribal f isheries re-opened on Thursday, and Columbia River Fish Company is excited to return to Hancock Street with a cooler full of fresh fish, and of course some smoked salmon candy. Dancing Light Ranch, House Spirits Distillery, Nossa Familia Coffee, Portland Bitters Project and Regular Portland Bread  also return this Saturday.

Bike repair booth returns this Saturday!
------------ ----------
Have an old bike gathering dust in your garage or basement? Or maybe you're a regular bicyclist but could still use a tuneup. In either case, never fear - the bicycle repair booth returns to HFM this Saturday! From 8am to 1pm, Portland Bicycle Outfitters will be offering free bicycle repairs and safety checks. Then you can bike to the farmers market all summer!

Help us paint a mural on Hancock Street!
----------------------
Only a month to go before we transform our block of NE Hancock Street! The Hollywood Street Painting Project has created the beautiful design you see below, and on Sunday July 10th, we will paint this beautiful 80-foot-long mural on our beloved block of Hancock Street. (If you're having trouble visualizing it, the stream is in front of where the music tent is on market day). You can sign up for project updates by emailing Sarah at [email protected], or join our Facebook event here. Mark your calendars, we will need a lot of help!

Upcoming Friends of Family Farmers event
----------------------
Friends of Family Farmers, the amazing non-profit supporting Oregon's small farms, is putting on an InFARMation event on the 28th that should be especially interesting. See below for more information. Also, Friends of Family Farmers will be tabling at HFM this Saturday!

See you Saturday at the market!
Cultivating the Next Generation of Farmers - InFARMation June 28th!
The USDA estimates that 25-50% of farmland will change hands in the next decade. One cause for this change is that the average age of farmers across the US is 58 years old. Those producers are preparing to retire, or at least not work their bodies so hard.
Who then will grow our food?
Luckily, there is a growing population of folks interested in farming, but the hurdles facing these new farmers are many: high costs of land, limited access to capital, long days and low wages, etc.
We will screen the Greenhorns Documentary that explores the lives of beginning farmers across America.
After the film, we will hear from Molly Notarianni, Next Generation Organizer for Friends of Family Farmers and Matt Gordon, Portland Chapter Coordinator for Rogue Farm Corps. These two will talk about the barriers facing beginning agrarians, as well as the opportunities available here in Oregon for the next generation of farmers.
Where: Holocene, located at the corner of SE Morrison and SE 10th in Portland. Please note: Holocene does not have a street sign. They do have a fantastic sound and video system, a full bar, and serve food.

When: The second Tuesday of every month.

5:30-6:30 - Arrive, networking, enjoyment of food and beverages

6:30-8:00 - Speakers(s), Q & A

8:00-8:30 - Additional discussion, networking & enjoyment of food and beverages

InFARMation is always free and open to the public, AND IT IS ALL AGES!
