Andrea loved the latest - and last - Kent Haruf novel,
Our Souls at Night. This is a story of two people, late in life, who decide to open their lives and hearts to create a new sort of connection and family. This is the type of book that when youa re done reading, you may want to just sit for a few moments and let it settle into you for a bit - let the simple beauty of the story become part you before you move on to the rest of your day.
Sandy was completely absorbed by
Uprooted, by Naomi Novik. This classic fairy tale/fantasy story features a spirited young heroine who learns that she has magic in her blood. Her deep connections to the earth and the people she loves put her at odds with the older magicians of the kingdom, but also give her a power that they don't understand. It's a lovely and thrilling story.
