BURGLARIES IN JEFFERSON PARK
Special Meeting  - this Thursday, March 3, 6pm, Ward III
SPECIAL MEETING CALLED BY TPD  AND WARD III at JPNA request!
Due to an unprecedented spike in burglaries, break-ins, and mischief,  recently in Jefferson Park, an emergency meeting has been scheduled.  It will be  attended by Grant Road engineers, and TPD resource personnel and will explore the trends, causes, and solutions.
THURSDAY, MARCH 3,  6 - 7:30  PM WARD III MEETING RM

NEIGHBORS near Hampton/Edison report burglaries and strangers appearing in yards and alleys.  Four burglaries in the past week have them very nervous. Another suspicious stranger was caught approaching a home near Mountain today at  3 pm.   Cindy Dunn of Tucson Police Department, Community Resource has notified patrol officers and hopefully we will see more black and whites in the neighborhood.
If you want to start a Neighborhood Watch call  Officer Dunn at   520-837-7241 or  Cynthia.Dunn@tucsonaz. gov
Meanwhile call 911 for any and all suspicious activity
It's that time of year again!  Take a chance and help your neighborhood. You can't win if you don't play.
Once again, the Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc.  are selling chances on the Jim Click raffle.  This year a 2016 Ford Mustang! Twenty-five dollars apiece, or five tickets for $100.00.  There were only 4,300 of these cars made.  The drawing is December 2016.  One hundred percent of the ticket sales benefit the neighborhood projects.
If you wish to buy or can sell some of the tickets:
Area # 5 Joanne  Osuna, 798-3602 cricket16@cox.net
Area #  1 Jeanne Calhoun, 293-2246
Area #  6 Louie Werthmuller, 390-9044      Area #2 Joan Daniels, 300-1980
JEFFERSON PARK - young homeowners...
"...the 30 year olds are not all fleeing"
As a 30 something, married mom, and homeowner in Jefferson Park...since having my baby I have met so many young families like mine. There are so many great things to do with young kids here and it's affordable to live, making Tucson really attractive. The fact that I can send my daughter to such an amazing place for daycare (IST) is so great to me, I don't think I'd be able to afford that elsewhere.

Sure over the years we've had friends our age leave town due to the grass being greener syndrome....but we've also had some of those people return, realizing the unique place they were missing.  All that is to say, don't lose hope, the 30 year olds aren't all fleeing!

The family kitty corner to us had a young son and a college age daughter. And then my husband just met the family that moved into the house down the street from us and they have a 5 year old. So it really does seem to be changing. We love this neighborhood and tell everyone about it, there's so much more character than the homes we visit on the northwest side!

I agree that IST seems to be helping the neighborhood, I know we aren't the only family that walks our kid to school there, so there must be some other kids that live here. I know one of my daughters classmates lives nearby, just on the east side of Campbell.

Students at the International School had their science fair  judging February 24.  Who will represent IST at the  SARSEF?

Residents of Jefferson Park and students from the U of A served as judges.
The projects were well done and made the judging difficult.   The students and teachers at IST did a great job!  We wish them luck at SARSEF.   Thank you judges and teachers for investing in our future scientists!                                                   J. Daniels
