Dear YWCA Toronto Supporter,

Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future - the ground-breaking Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) report was released one year ago. The report documents the long-lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples and provides a path forward. It touches all jurisdictions, all policy areas and all Canadians.

Join YWCA Toronto CEO Heather McGregor in taking the TRC Reading Challenge . Pledge to read the TRC summary report - starting on June 21, 2016, National Aboriginal Day.  Over 3,000 Canadians have already made the pledge. Think of it as a nation-building exercise.

As YWCA Toronto's 2016 Woman of Distinction recipient Roberta Jamieson reminds us, we must all advocate for "a Canada where there are no murdered Indigenous women ... a Canada without Indigenous poverty, a Canada where there is no crisis in Indigenous health or Indigenous education, or Indigenous incarceration." This is the positive change embodied in the TRC report.

Take the TRC Reading Challenge  - As you read, think about your individual role in reconciliation and urge all levels of government to take action. Together, we can build a fairer, more equitable Canada.

Send this email to 10+ of your family members, friends, networks and ask them to make the pledge as well. Use your Facebook or Twitter to boost
the signal.

We all have a role in reconciliation.  #TRCReadingChallenge
