My Visit to Dothan, Alabama- Peanut Capital of the World!
Constantly on the go, traveling from place to place, all over the world, the places visited are all different, unique, and special, each in its own way, but all similar because of the warm welcome received from wonderful people. As technology continues to grow and become a bigger part of our lives, I am able to keep in touch with everyone in a quicker, more widespread manner. While still a huge advocate of "old fashion" social interaction, it has been a pleasure to be able to send quick Facebook messages to longtime friends, and share relevant videos and photos with my 4,000+ followers on my page and newsletter.

A few years back, I spoke at Pizitz Middle School in Vestavia,  a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. There, I had the pleasure of meeting Natalie Jeffcoat, a Library Media Specialist. Now, in 2016, Natalie works at the Houston Academy School in Dothan. Remembering my presentation, and the impression it had on the students, Natalie wanted to share that with the students of her new school.

I am sharing this with you because I am so fortunate to meet people such as Natalie in my travels. Natalie looks out for her students well-being and wants to continue to promote my messages of respect and tolerance for one another.

On this trip, in addition to Houston Academy, I presented at both Dothan High School and Northview High School, under the aegis of Mr. Scott Faulk, Director of Secondary Education. Stan Eldridge, Principal of Dothan and Charles Corbitt, Principal of Northview, were both v ery welcoming in their introductions.

I presented to an evening group of adults at the Ruth Remnant Ministry, Inc., under the direction of Danise Peters. I am thrilled that part of the mission of this Ministry is the positive support of the Jewish people, and the State of Israel.

The students and people of Dothan were attentive, caring, respectful and eager to learn. In fact, as I have kept in touch with Natalie, a lot of students have reached out to me on my Facebook, and I continue to keep in touch with them. It was an absolute pleasure meeting everyone in Dothan.

Through social media, word got out that I was back in Alabama, and as a result, Jean Deal, Librarian of Liberty Park Middle School in Vestavia would like a return visit,  and we are now set to return in March of 2017!

And, this is how my schedule, for the most part, continues to grow!

PS When you think of peanuts in the future, remember to think of Dothan!

Hugs,
Marion
