Statement from IMLS Director Dr. Kathryn K. Matthew on the Nomination of Dr. Carla Hayden To Be the Librarian of Congress
President Barack Obama announced his intention to nominate Dr. Carla Hayden to be Librarian of Congress. Since 2010, Dr. Hayden has served on the National Library and Museum Services Board, which advises the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Read more

New Research Grant Opportunity Available from IMLS
Announcing the STEM Expert Facilitation of Family Learning in Libraries and Museums
IMLS is inviting proposals for special grants for research on informal educational approaches that leverage Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) expertise within communities in the broadest sense. The STEM Expert Facilitation of Family Learning in Libraries and Museums, or STEMeX, initiative will provide grants up to $1,000,000 for projects of up to two years. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2016.  Read more

The Institute of Museum and Library Services announced 30 finalists for the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The National Medal is the nation's highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community. Read more
