Congratulations Resident Amy Hertz and Suzanne Trupin, M.D.
Women's Health Practice would like to congratulate resident Amy Hertz, PGY3 at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, and Suzanne Trupin, M.D., on their abstract's acceptance by the Society of Family Planning's North American Forum on Family Planning. The Forum is the leading scientific and educational conference on family planning and reproductive health care.

They will present "The impact of the Parental Notification Law on teenage abortion in a single suburban clinic in Illinois" in November. We are proud to support women's health research and the education of future women's health physicians, and we thank our patients for the warm welcome they give to our students.
Seeking Prenatal Patients for Ultrasound Testing
Women's Health Practice is evaluating new ultrasound machines, and we would like to invite our current prenatal patients to help us by having an extra ultrasound during the month of June. We think you'll be excited to see improved clarity, especially for 3D images.

If you are interested in modeling for an ultrasound session, please call us at 217-356-3736 and ask for Missy or Judy, or send us a message through Patient Portal.

New PRP Treatment for Incontinence and More
Incontinence when running, dancing and jumping? Medication, surgery and custom fitted pessaries have long been standard treatments for this condition. Women's Health Practice now offers Magellan Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments, which use your own blood growth factors to treat incontinence naturally. Medical visits and evaluation are covered by insurance, but the PRP treatment may not be covered under all plans. Expanded uses of this therapy exist, including for the treatment of poor orgasms. Call us at 217-356-3736 or book online to schedule a consultation.
AHA Recommendation for Overall Cardiovascular Health
Did you know that the American Heart Association recommends strength training 2 times a week for maximum health benefits? See the complete AHA guidelines and learn how strength training improves both your health and aerobic performance in this article for Masters swimmers. Dr. Trupin encourages both for fitness; you'll find her swimming laps at Urbana's Indoor Aquatic Center.
Genetic Testing Still in the News
We offer an assortment of genetic tests from several laboratories.  We encourage a visit to discuss whatever family history you are aware of in addition to other contributing factors, and we can guide your testing decisions.
