Christmas Message
The Christmas season is a time to reflect with much gratitude on the year passed and the many gifts given by our kind and caring parents, friends, alumni and benefactors. Much grace has been bestowed on us through 2015 and I pray now for all who our lives will touch in the coming year.

St. Bon's is a very special community, bound by our care for others and our desire to seek the magis, the greater, always in the context of what is for the greater glory of God.  Our engaged and supportive parents really work closely with a dedicated staff of highly professional educators committed to forming confident young men and women who are intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving and committed to doing justice in the generous service to the people of God.

It has always been a calling of Jesuit institutions to serve the disadvantaged and marginalized.  I am continually inspired by the lengths to which our community dedicate themselves to this endeavor, particularly at this time of the year.

Christmas time at St. Bon's is always special as we prepare to celebrate the coming of our Lord and Saviour.  Our Advent Mass and the various Advent services remind us of the faith we share. During this holiday season, I hope that you will take time to celebrate the accomplishments, traditions and commitments we share.  Thank you for your prayers and continued support.  May these holy days, and every day, be filled with peace and joy for you and your loved ones.

On behalf of the administration, staff and students I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Blessed and Happy 2016!

Alumni Present Cheque to Bursary Program
Gary Walsh '66 presents cheque on behalf on Fallen 51 Dinner committee

In September, the 2nd Annual Fallen 51 Dinner was held at the Crow's Nest Officers' Club. The Fallen 51 Dinner honours the 51 Alumni that sacrificed their lives during World War I.

The Fallen 51 Dinner committee, made up of St. Bon's Alumni, decided to have the funds raised for this event donated to the St. Bonaventure's College Bursary Program. The committee wanted to ensure that any student that wishes to attend St. Bon's have the opportunity, regardless of financial need.

Mr. Gary Walsh '66, presented a cheque of $3,000 to St. Bon's President, Mr. Tom McGrath on behalf of the committee. We wish to thank the organizing committee and attendees for supporting our Bursary Program.
St. Bon's IFTIJ participants, with the Canadian  IFTIJ Delegation

This past November, I had the privilege to travel to Washington, DC with a group of my classmates to attend the 2015 Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice. It was an incredible opportunity, and I continue to contemplate what we discussed during this conference. As a student in a fairly small school, in a province with only one Jesuit school, in a country with only three Jesuit high schools, the opportunity to see students from other Jesuit schools was amazing.

One of the most powerful experiences during the conference was when the delegation of Canadian schools was able to meet with a Jesuit school from Tijuana, Mexico. It was incredible to learn about the social justice issues that are facing the students that live there, as well as to see how our similar Jesuit education and how it forms us to think in surprisingly similar ways. It was very clear to all present that the Jesuit education system excels at producing men and women who truly care for and devote their lives to others.

The theme of this years Teach-In was 'Bridges', and I think this was a theme that really resonated with the almost 1,700 students present. The social justice issues discussed throughout the teach-in were a constant reminder of how we must strive to build bridges of solidarity between fortunate and less fortunate, whether they be impoverished, of a different colour, religion, or ethnicity.

I believe that the power of this Teach-In was best represented when we all took part in an Advocacy Day on the lawn of the Capitol Building. It was quite a moving experience to see all the students, teachers, and faculty of the Teach-In working together to try and solve the social justice issues which affect the world. Seeing pictures of almost 2,000 people standing in front of the Capitol Building put it into perspective how influential the views of the general public are in trying to make the world a better place.
