Staff WEConnect International Day 2015: A Huge Success!

On June 22, nearly 200 women business owners, corporate members, and government officials from 10 different countries met for a day dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and educating all on the benefits of supplier diversity and inclusion. The conference presented a tremendous opportunity for suppliers and buyers alike to make new business connections, and we're certain that many left with new leads and business ideas.

Special thanks to event sponsor ExxonMobil and supporters D&B, Monsanto, and Walmart for ensuring the success of WEConnect International Day.

Learn more about the conference and see photos from throughout the day. For those of you who were able to attend, we would love for you to give us your feedback.

We hope to see more certified women business enterprises at WEConnect International Day 2016 in Orlando, Florida. Mark your calendars!

Opportunity
Share your expertise and connect with Walmart, Pick n Pay

WEConnect International has partnered with AWEP on a Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Commitment with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to launch AWEP: Women as the Missing Middle of Africa's Supply Chain Project.

Certified WBEs are invited to share your invaluable support and guidance to other women owned businesses from AWEP. If you commit at least 6 mentoring hours to an AWEP entrepreneur by August 31st, you will also be eligible to connect with technical officers from Pick n Pay and Walmart. The method of communication is entirely up to you and your mentee - it could be Skype, email, phone or the conversation interface on MicroMentor.

Sign up as a mentor by Friday, July 17 and email Liz Whitehead at [email protected] to confirm that you are participating.

Success Story
Colombia: Crispy Fruits

Colombian entrepreneur Jimena Florez founded Crispy Fruits in 2011 to provide healthy, natural, convenient, and delicious fruit snacks.

When WEConnect International began certifying women's business enterprises in Colombia this year, Jimena jumped at the opportunity.

During WEConnect International's first ever Latin American Forum in Colombia in March, Jimena met with corporate reps from an international hotel chain. What happened next? You can now find Crispy Fruit's fitness, power, and exotic mixes in mini-bars in select hotels in Bogota.

We're not the only ones who have marveled at Jimena's quick success. She was recently recognized by President Obama as a stand-out female entrepreneur providing healthy foods and supporting organic farming in Colombia.
