Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death among infants between one month and one year old.
ADDISON'S LAW
Addison Czapiewski died as an infant in child care. Addison's Law was passed in the 2015 legislative session thanks to the efforts of Addison's mother, Tammy, and other supporters and requires annual SIDS training for child care providers. To build awareness of Addison's Law, Child Care Aware ® will be offering face-to-face SIDS training around the state this spring.
WHAT DOES A SAFE SLEEP ENVIRONMENT LOOK LIKE?
There are ways you can reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related causes of infant death. Learn more by exploring this interactive tool from the Safe to Sleep campaign.
INFANT SLEEP RESOURCES
Child Care Aware ® has a variety of resources to help you create a safe sleep environment for infants. You'll find information about sleep policies, equipment and more.
Safe sleep is important for all children, especially children with special needs. If you care for a child with special health care needs and the parents request specific sleep practices, check with your licenser and the child's physician to assure that you are able to accommodate different sleep practices while following safe sleep licensing rules. Contact a  Child Care Aware® Inclusion Specialist  if you have questions about a child's development.
