Students Attend Mo Ranch Leadership Training
Mo Ranch ELP 2.13.16 Thirty-six of our students attended a three-day leadership training weekend at Mo Ranch February 13-15. The training was part of the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP), a hands-on outdoor environmental education program that is held each year.

A variety of fun team-building activities, including the ropes course, were offered. One of our participants, PPAS junior Henriette Mbawmbaw, shared the following: "I learned that everyone is important on a team. It doesn't matter how big you are or how fast you are; everybody has a place."

Some of the goals of the  ELP are to promote growth in group cooperation and leadership skills and to develop environmental awareness and an understanding of responsible management of our natural resources.

Livestock Show - Julio 2.4.16 Eagles 4-H Participates in Livestock Show
Eagles 4-H participants entered 12 lambs in this year's Kleberg-Kenedy Junior Livestock Show held the week of February 1. Congratulations to PPAS freshman, Julio Galvan, for receiving Reserve Champion in his breed! This year, 8 of our students made the sale and had the opportunity to participate in the auction on Saturday night.
Livestock Show 2.4.16
The preparation for the livestock show is one of our most intense educational experiences.  We are very  proud of all of our students who participated this year and for all of their hard work and commitment to raising their animals.

We are grateful to Ms. Niki Tijerina, our Eagles 4-H Sponsor, and to Mrs. Ellie Perez and other staff members for all of their hard work on behalf of our students during the Livestock Show.
Completion of Student Center
FEMA Final Inspection
It was just a year ago that the slab was being poured for our new Student Center. And now, we are happy to report that the building is complete and being fully utilized by students! Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) conducted a final inspection and gave approval for the building on January 22, 2016. Our students participated in a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was attended by representatives from FEMA and Kleberg County.

New Gymnasium In addition to housing our new gymnasium, the facility also serves as the new dining hall.  (The existing dining hall will be converted to a new Student Union Building, which will giv e our students more space and more opportunities for social activities.)

There is also a theater stage, complete with  lights and curtains, where our students will be able to host theater productions and other performances by students. We are so grateful to all who helped to make this facility become a reality. It will serve our students for decades to come!

Board of Trustees Meet on Campus
2016 Board of Trustees

On February 5-6, 2016, the PPAS Board of Trustees met on campus for their first meeting of the year. The meeting was the first to be held in our brand new Student Center.

In addition to their routine business and committee meetings, board members  toured the new facility, received a report from our Student Council representatives and also had the opportunity to interact with our staff during a special reception on Friday afternoon.

Alumni Return for Baseball Game
Pan Am baseball alumni returned to campus to challenge this year's baseball team at the beginning of the season. The current Eagles team pulled out a victory, but more importantly, everyone enjoyed playing the game and reuniting with friends.
