As fall approaches and as the seasons change, I invite you to join us at one of the events below and connect with others who are supporting youth in our community.
I am also excited to share with you some changes at Second Growth this fall which include our new logo, our work with the Hanover Rotary on the Auction Gala in November, and welcoming new board member, Heather Cantagallo. Please join us for our annual meeting on October 20th to learn more about Second Growth's work and discuss the impact of opiate addiction on our community.

3rd Annual Walk for
Suicide Awareness
|

Sunday, September 13, 2015
Starts at 1:00pm, arrive by 12:30pm
Hanover High School
This walk is for adolescents and adults with the goal to raise awareness of how to reduce adolescent suicide by recognizing the warning signs of a peer at risk, as well as to strengthen the bonds among the area schools.
Open to the public, bring a friend, teammate, or neighbor.

Start Ready Camp
a Success
|
Second Growth's second summer Start Ready camp was a success with more than twenty Upper Valley high school students participating. This program is run in partnership with Dartmouth College with funding from the Claremont Savings Bank Foundation and the Maurice Robinson Grant of the Tucker Foundation at Dartmouth College. The program was held for the second year at the Claremont Community Center with the final day on campus at Dartmouth College. Athletes prepared themselves
physically
for fall preseason practices
and
learned good
nutrition
, leadership skills, and healthy decision making.

Second Growth welcomes new board member,
Heather Cantagallo
|
Heather Cantagallo is the principal of the Grantham Village Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Keene State College, a Master of Education in School Administration, and a CAGS degree in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State University. Heather has been an educator for over 22 years, teaching at various grade levels and working as a school administrator.
When asked why Heather joined the board, Heather shares "I joined Second Growth's Board because I believe in the work the organization is doing to reduce substance abuse and violence for adolescents and young adults. I believe that we must educate, treat and provide ongoing support if we want to make a lasting difference. Second Growth is committed to providing all of these things and understands that prevention is only one component of the process."

All Second Growth groups are free, have open enrollment and are facilitated by a licensed counselor.
