NEW AT PERFORMANCE NormaTec!

Want to improve performance and speed recovery?

With our never ending quest to improve not only on what we can offer our patients at Performance, but also our own personal performance. We are excited to offer a new service at Performance.  The NormaTec Recovery system.  This system is quickly being implemented by top level athletes and teams as part of their training and recovery process.

The NormaTec system uses sequential pulse technology based on normal physiology, and it synergistically combines three distinctive compression techniques to speed the body's natural recovery.

1) Pulsing: Instead of using static compression (squeezing) to transport fluid out of the limbs, Sequential Pulse Technology uses

dynamic compression (pulsing). The pulsing action more effectively mimics the muscle pump of the legs, greatly enhancing the movement of fluid and metabolites out of the limbs after an intense

workout.

2) Gradients: Veins and lymphatic vessels have one-way valves that

prevent backflow of fluid. Similarly, Sequential Pulse Technology utilizes gradient hold pressures to keep your body's fluids from

being forced down toward your feet by the pulsing action in proximal-zones. Because of this enhancement, Sequential Pulse Technology can deliver maximum pressure throughout the entire limb and the effectiveness of the pulsing action is not diminished near the top

of the limb.

3) Distal release: Because extended static pressure can be detrimental to the body's normal circulatory flow, Sequential Pulse Technology releases the hold pressures once they are no longer needed to prevent backflow. By releasing the hold pressure in each zone as soon as possible, each portion of the limb gains maximal rest time without a significant

pause between compression cycles.

While a healthy athlete's body eventually will recover from an intense workout, using the Sequential Pulse Technology found only in a NormaTec Recovery System for just 20 minutes can speed recovery.

Are You a Procrastinator?

What is Procrastination?

The dictionary defines procrastination as: Putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention. We've all postponed

until tomorrow what could have been done today, but let's be honest, it doesn't feel very good when it happens. We often try to disguise our avoidance by doing things that may be interesting, and even useful, but that don't contribute towards the main goal.

Why Do People Procrastinate?

There are many motives for procrastination, but one of the most common is self-protection. We're not always conscious of this underlying motive, but recognizing its presence can be empowering.

1. Procrastination helps you avoid criticism.

Brian Tracey's Time Management Book now available at P.I.H.
Now available at Performance!

Have you ever worked on a project for ages because you wanted to get it just right? Maybe you actually even finished it, but still never let it see the light of day? Believe it or not, perfectionism can be a form of procrastination. Let's face it: when you allow the small details of your task to keep you from concentrating on the big picture of the project (e.g., perfectionism), you are procrastinating. Underlying the need to get everything perfect, ask yourself if there's a fear that people will be critical of your work.
