It has been a bittersweet couple of weeks here at the Chamber. As we bid farewell to several board members and welcome a few new ones, I am in awe of this community's willingness to serve. 

Stephen James, Jonathan Coleman and Chris Sinclair have been active on this chamber's board of directors for countless years and have been dedicated to building a strong chamber that is focused on developing our workforce and creating a business friendly climate.

Jon Tindall has served on the board for two years, and as a bold president, has championed for smart growth and progress in our region. Gentlemen, I know you will stay active members of the Pierce County Chamber, but your daily input and leadership will be missed!

To our new board officers, Richard Highsmith, president; Dr. Joy Williams, vice president; and Matt Cochran, treasurer, we are truly grateful to you for stepping up and agreeing to serve this chamber and this community in such an important role.

The next Satilla River Water Trail meeting will be held at the Chamber on Tuesday, January 5 at 4 p.m. 

The Satilla River Water Trail Partnership is instrumental in coordinating and implementing activities and initiatives to ensure the Satilla River is a main component of a statewide network of water trails designed to promote recreation and outdoor activities for paddlers and river enthusiasts while providing sustainable economic growth in the region. 

The mission of the Satilla River Water Trail Partnership is to encourage residents and visitors to celebrate the historic, scenic and environmental richness of the Satilla River. Come be a part of this exciting group!

We will celebrate the grand opening of Mike Burch Ford Blackshear with a Business After Hours/Ribbon Cutting event on Thursday, January 21 from 5 to 7. Plan to attend this wonderful celebration!

Blackshear's Main Street Manager, Tommy Lowmon is leaving this week to take a similar position with the city of Auburn, GA. Tommy's creative approach to downtown development and event planning will be missed. We wish him well in this new endeavor. Go get 'em, Tommy!
