The Gordon Institute Newsletter

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The past few months have been eventful for the Gordon Institute!

Below you will see that Steve Klosterman is stepping up from his current role as Program Chair for the LEAD division of the ASEE (American Society of Engineering Education) Annual Conference to take over the role of Chair for the Division.
The Institute is playing a major role as Engineering Leadership education expands across Universities in the US with both the ASEE and a community of practice of 15 like-minded institutions COMPLETE (Community of Practice for Leadership Education for the twenty first century engineer). We are also linked globally with IACEE (International Association for Continuing Engineering Education).
These efforts are a win-win as not only are we able to share the best practices that we have but we also get access to fresh new ideas and techniques from other practitioners.

Sincerely,

Simon Pitts
Director, The Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership

Professor Klosterman to Chair ASEE Division on Engineering Leadership

Professor Klosterman was elected as Program Chair of the Engineering Leadership Division of American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) at the 2016 International Forum in New Orleans on June 25th. The conference  brings together engineering professionals from academia and industry from around the globe who are engaged in novel engineering education initiatives to share information on successful models, experiences and best practices.

Where Are They Now

  • Lauren Brown: "I  am currently a program analyst for the Office of Regulatory Science within the Office of Regulatory Affairs for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), currently working in Rockville, Maryland. Being a Gordon Fellow was integral to my professional development in many ways. The Gordon Program taught me to see my role in the organization for more than just the day-to-day tasks, but how it contributes to our overall mission. I believe that was a significant contributing factor in my move up from a field office to headquarters."
  • Grant Eastman: " Since graduating as a Gordon Fellow, I've continued to lead increasingly complex and impactful projects at Novartis where I help deliver technology, mainly robotic systems, to researchers. My time in the program absolutely has shaped and accelerated who I am as an engineer, a professional, a lifelong learner, and a leader. I am who I am because of my time in the Gordon Institute for Engineering Leadership."
