Returning Home: Student helps save land she loves
Meet Roya - one of the many friends working to save Almanor icon

Cornell student Roya Sabri helps with Save Olsen Barn campaign
Cornell student Roya Sabri returns home to help Save Olsen Barn
Roya Sabri has lived many places in her 20+ years: Iran, Sacramento, Hawaii, New York. But the place that feels most like home? The shores of Lake Almanor.

Roya spent kindergarten through 5th grade at Chester Elementary in the Almanor area, and every time she comes back to visit her family's home on the East Shore, she falls more in love with this place.

This summer, the Cornell University student wanted to find a way to give back. Her grandmother saw an article about FRLT's effort to save Olsen Barn, and Roya jumped in to help right away.

Read Roya's story here. Learn why she loves this place so much, why she thinks the save Olsen Barn campaign is working, and the unexpected gift she received in the process.
