We are midway through our season of Lent. At our Midweek Lenten Services we have been looking at Basic Faith Practices. So far we have looked at prayer, worship and food. If you haven't joined us yet we gather at 6:30pm on Wednesdays. As always there will be a great meal served starting at 5:15.
Thanks for your patience during this time between having an Administrative Assistant on staff. We are very thankful for Hope Olson who has volunteered a lot of time. We are still fine tuning the job description and will posting the job soon. We appreciate your prayers for God help us find the right person to be part of our staff.
We are very blessed to have an active women's group at Joy (JWELCA -Joy Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). This coming Sunday they will leading worship for us, and we will have a special guest preacher, Barbara Solsaa.

Last Week for Loves of Love
Because of crop failure, flooding and homelessness the people of Malawi need our help. Help us collect money by choosing one of the opportunities that fits for you and your family. All proceeds will go to the Malawi people.
- Homemade breads, muffins and rolls for sale Feb. 14th, 21st, and 28th between services.
- A quilt has been donated by the Joyful Quilters. We will have a silent auction on Feb. 14th, 21st, and 28th.
- Joy Sunday School kids will be collecting money
Make checks out to Joy and note Malawi in the memo line. Bring bread, muffins or rolls any of the three Sundays. Buy and/or bid. Help us show our love to our Malawi brothers and sisters.

 Forum on Cyberbullying
PACA (Prescott Area Churches Association), in collaboration with the Prescott School District ,will sponsor Dr. Justin Pachin to speak to our community on Monday, Feb. 29th, at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria at the Prescott Middle School
.
Dr. Patchin will also be speaking, during the day, to students at PMS and PHS. Dr. Patchin will help students and families become more aware of the reality of cyberbullying, ways to deal with the harm it causes, and help to identify strategies to keep it from happening in the first place. All parents, grandparents, and community members are invited to participate in this important forum on Cyberbullying on February 29th. There is no charge for admission. See you there!

World Day of Prayer
Our Joy Church Women will be hosting the ecumenical 2016 World Day of Prayer (WDP) on Friday, March 4 at 11:00 A.M. This year's service was written by the women of Cuba. The women of Cuba call us to explore the depths of God's love and accept the invitation to receive the realm of God as a little child.
"Receive Children, Receive Me," is
the theme of the 2016 WDP. A lunch, cooked by Kelly Poff, will be served following this service on March 4
th
. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this annual inspiring and educational service.
Join us as we celebrate and worship together with the women of Cuba, our sisters and brothers from the Prescott area churches, and our partners around the world.

General Meeting of JWELCA
All women of Joy
are invited to gather on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:00 PM in the Fireside Room. Plans will be made for the Spring Banquet and discussion held concerning the SWO Convention in Eau Claire on April 29-30, Devotions will be given by Hope Olson and dessert provided by Charlotte Burgeson.

Bold Café will meet
on March 6th from 8 to 9:30am in the Fireside
Room. All young women are welcome! The group will be led by Kathy Sommer and Mandy Bernick. They will guide women through Bold Café discussions. Walking Together Event
We will be taking several car loads of people to this wonderful resource that our synod offers.
Click here to view a description of the workshops. You will get to choose 5 workshops, have great worship and lunch is included. At the door the cost goes up to $25 so preregistration by March 6 is important (contact the church office and we will register as a group from Joy)

Youth Events
Summer Mission Trip
Thunder Bay, Canada June 20th- 28th
Cost $365 includes transportation, camping fees, meals, service sites, and entrance fees.(Passport or Pass card fees not included...Students 18 and under only need a birth certificate)
Deposit $50 Non-refundable due February 24th
We will do 2-3 fundraisers to help with the cost. Several students last year were able pay for their entire trip with fundraisers. If assistance is needed please let Christy know ASAP.
We will be camping at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park near Thunder Bay Canada. While at Sleeping Giant we will be spending time helping the park rangers care for God's creation in the park. This may include painting tables, clearing brush, trimming trees, breaking trails, digging trails, or hauling fire wood. We will also have some FUN hiking, swimming, campfires, visiting tourist attractions, fishing, canoeing, learning about God's creation and much more.
This trip is for students going into 9th grade to adult.

If you are a benefit member of Thrivent Financial and have 2015 Choice Dollars to direct to a registered organization, you must do so before March 31, 2016 or the funds will be unavailable to donate. The easiest way is to access your account on-line (Thrivent.com) and check your available funds. If you are not sure of your status or have any questions, call Kim at the River Falls Thrivent office (715-425-2056).
Also, if you are a benefit or associate member of Thrivent and would like to sponsor a church or community fund-raiser event with $250 of seed money donated by Thrivent, please consider doing so. The program is called "Action Team" and each benefit member can apply twice each year (every year) and associate members can apply once per year over a 3 year period. If you have any questions, talk with Jim or Bobbie Flatz (home phone 715-262-5960) and we will try to answer your questions and help you with the process.
