LOCAL BUSINESSES WIN BIG AT THE NOBA AWARDS
Three local business won awards at this year's ceremony. Resolute Forest Products won the Judge's Choice Award. Northern Ontario Angels won the Entrepreneurial Community of the Year Award, and Thunder Bay Xerographix Inc (TBXI) won the Company of the year (16-50 employees).

marked the beginning of Levaero Aviation's Company Fitness Challenge. Outfitted with Fitbit activity trackers to monitor their progress, the team hit the ground running on a four month challenge.
The staff made individual charity donations and the president and business partner matched donations offering $2,600 support of P.R.O. Kids. The challenge is now on to other business in Thunder Bay to support a similar program.
THUNDER BAY BUSINESS WOMEN'S NETWORK AWARDS 2015
This year marked the 30th year jubilee with the annual awards ceremony September 23rd. Categories included Everday Awesome Award, Multitasking Maven Award, Spirit Award, Mompreneur Award, and Sell-it-to-me-Baby Award.

THUNDER BAY TOURISM MANAGER WINS LAKE SUPERIOR MAGAZINE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Paul Pepe was chosen as a role model of international cooperation for the magazine's 2015 Achievement Award. A formal presentation of the award will be presented here in Thunder Bay later this year.

THUNDER BAY AIRPORT "FLYBRARY"
The Thunder Bay Airports Authority in partnership with the Thunder Bay Public Library unveiled a new service for Airport travellers. The Flybrary is modelled after the concept of the Little Free Library, neighbourhood book exchanges where people are encouraged to take-a-book or return-a-book.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AWARD
Volunteers and staff who go beyond the call of duty are the unsung heroes of our community. That's why it's always great to hear when they're properly recognized. RESOURCE CHAMPION
Earlier this year, The Canadian Chamber of Commerce asked chambers to submit the names of individuals and companies within their region that they felt are making significant contributions to the promotion of natural resources development and trade in Canada while also ensuring a prosperous future for Canadians.
Nominated as an individual champion by the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, our first Resource Champion is Roger Barber. Roger is General Manager of Ontario Woodlands for Resolute Forest Products in Thunder Bay.
MACKENZIE PGA TOUR CANADA EVENT GENERATES $4 MILLION IN ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN ONTARIO
In July of 2015, when the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada played the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel at the Whitewater Golf Club in Thunder Bay, Ontario, the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) found that the combined spending of visitors and event organizers in producing the event reached more than $1.8 million in initial expenditures, which supported an estimated $4 million of economic activity in Ontario and $2.8 million in Thunder Bay alone.
The event supported 25 jobs in the province paying $767,000 in wages and salaries, and total federal, provincial and municipal taxes supported by the event reached $728,000. In total the net economic activity (GDP) was $2.0 million in the province, of which $1.2 million was in Thunder Bay.
