Second Annual Career Showcase Held at Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center

CAMP PERRY, OH - On Oct. 2, 2015, freshman students from local schools were bussed to the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center at Camp Perry to take part in the second annual Ottawa County Career Showcase. The event, conducted by the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation and sponsored by the Ottawa County Business Advisory Council, was part of National Manufacturing Month - celebrated in October.
Register for the Inaugural Talladega 600 Matches in December

TALLADEGA, Ala. - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is thrilled to announce the completion of plans on the next big southern event - the Talladega 600. The match is set to begin Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, and concludes Sunday, Dec. 13, at CMP's new Talladega Marksmanship Park. The event schedule has been designed to appeal to rifle, pistol and shotgun enthusiasts alike in order to provide an even wider variety of marksmanship opportunities to competitors from around the country.
CMP Clubs Corner: CMP New Jersey State Championship Matches Held in September

Cumberland Riflemen hosted the fifth annual New Jersey State CMP Rifle Championships on Sept. 19 and 20, 2015, at its Millville, N.J., Range. The matches were approved by the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). On Saturday, Sept. 19, a total of 57 entrants tried their skills at besting each other as woodgun shooters by category in the Garand, Springfield and Vintage Rifle Matches.
CMP Clubs Corner: Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club Upgrades Home Range

The Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club has been a proud and generous sponsor of the shooting sports. Back in February 2015, we started to upgrade our carrier system with new carriers and the addition of four more for a total of 10. We bought the same carriers as the new ones on Rodriguez range at Camp Perry.

American Legion rifle marksmanship class - By Peggy Senzarino of the Muscatine Journal - MUSCATINE, Iowa - The American Legion is offering free rifle marksmanship classes to all boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 20 and still in school. Classes start Sunday, Sept. 27. Those interested in attending can register at the legion at 6 p.m. Sunday. You can also register by calling Raymond L. Dietrich at 563-263-2186 or Mike Blanchard at 563-299-8113. Everything will be furnished. Instruction will be prone, standing and kneeling positions with an emphasis on safety.



Ohio Day at the Range celebrates its second year
- The Beacon, Port Clinton, Ohio - The second annual Ohio Day at the Range and Outdoor Adventure Fair was held on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Civilian Marksmanship Program at Camp Perry. The event offered people with disabilities a chance to explore recreation opportunities. Recreation activities play a very important role in everyone's life and help shape them. Individuals with disabilities often have limited opportunities to fully participate in recreational activities, especially outdoor recreation, and have not been able to realize equal benefits. M1 Maintenance Webinars - November 6th - The M1 Maintenance Webinar is a live, online training course that will teach you the proper techniques for maintaining your M1 Garand rifle. The course will be instructed by CMP Custom Shop Manager, Chris Hord. During the webinar, participants will view several short videos and take part in a question and answer session with Mr. Hord. CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park . The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:
 
Wednesday Mornings - Beginners Handgun Safety Course - Creedmoor Sports in conjunction with the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park are offering a beginners handgun safety and handling class designed to provide the beginner or novice with a basic understanding of handgun safety, operation, loading and firing. The class is four hours in duration consisting of two hours of classroom instruction and two hours of range time. Class begins at 9 am in the Clubhouse. The student will learn how to handle the handgun in a safe manner, how to carry it, how to load and unload it, and how to fire the handgun in a controlled environment. Each student will fire fifty rounds at a target 15 feet away. Call 256-474-0049 for information and/or to register for classes.
     
  
Oct 17th - Alabama State High Power Championship. This is a non-EIC 800 aggregate match. 20 shots slow fire prone, 200 yards, 20 shots rapid fire sitting, 200 yards, 20 shots rapid fire prone 300 yards, 20 shots slow fire prone 600 yards. This match is open to the public. Firing will begin at 9:00 am, competitors must arrive no later than 8:30 to the Talladega Marksmanship Park Club House for orientation. This is a NRA registered tournament. The NRA classification system will be used and appropriate NRA points will be given. Appropriate championship awards will be given to Alabama residents only. 


Oct 17th - USPSA Pistol Match - The Talladega Practical Shooters will host a USPSA Pistol Match. Registration begins at 8:00am at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park Club House. A range safety briefing will be given at 8:30 am. and firing will begin at 9:00 am. For more information call 256-474-4408 Ext 460.


Oct 28th - NRA Basic Pistol Class - Are you ready to use your pistol in a self-defense situation? Are you aware of the safest and best use of your pistol? Are you or any of your family members in need of more education or training to ensure the most effective use of your pistol for self-defense? Join the Radix Tactical team at the state of the art CMP facility just a short drive from Birmingham. We have courses for any age or level of experience and you will find the Radix team to be engaging, family friendly, and extremely patient.


Oct 31st - Talladega 3 Gun - This will be a 3 Gun match (Refer to 3 Gun Nation Club Series rules.) We will be shooting five stages including one classifier. Minimum of 202 rounds required to complete the match. 54 Pistol, 54 Shotgun (Birdshot), and 96 Rifle.


Nov 1st - Steel Challenge - The Steel Challenge "SCSA" is an entree level into Shooting competition as well as the "Drag Racing" of all of the shooting sports. The match consist of 5 stages where steel plates are arranged by different sizes and distances. The objective is to shoot 5 plates as fast as you can while being timed with a timer. Each stage consist of 5 strings of the same course and the slowest of your 5 tries will be discarded and will not factor into your score. There are several classes from kids to super seniors and everything in between. There is a class for everyone regardless of your skill level.




Nov 7th - Talladega Shotgun Fall Fun Shoot - The Fall Fun Shoot will offer 100 target sporting clays and 50 target 5-stand. Half of all entry fees will be awarded back to class. For more information call 256-474-4408 Ext 460.


Nov 7-8th - Project Appleseed Clinic - The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park will host a Project Appleseed Clinic on November 7-8. This is the first Project Appleseed event at Talladega and will be FREE and open to the public. To register, visit the Project Appleseed website.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you to participate in its fifth annual Anniston Marksmanship Center Dixie Double. This match offers 60-shot international air rifle standing and 60-shot air pistol events for open men and women and junior men and women. USA Shooting is sanctioning this match as a PSA/PSI match sanctions; it is also sanctioned as a PTO.
Members of the National Rifle and Pistol Teams will attend.  The match is a two-day event held 20-22 November 2015.

 The CMP invites competitors to join us for the Western CMP Games held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, AZ. The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.

The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers.
