Wishlist Items for DACC
|
You can help the homeless dogs and cats of Detroit.
The Detroit City Council has approved Michigan Pet Fund Alliance as a donor for Detroit Animal Control & Care (DACC).
City regulations DO NOT allow individuals to donate directly to the shelter. So here is your chance: if you donate it to us, we will deliver it to DACC.
The following items are needed:
- Stainless steel food bowls
- Collars/leashes (new or gently used)
- Dawn (original blue)
- Bleach (5.25% or 8.25%)
- Towels
- Blankets (no knit, crocheted, or comforters)
- Paper towels
- Cat litter
- Milk-Bones
- Peanut Butter
- Spray Cheese
- Cat Toys (note: fabric mice toys are ok but can't be decontaminated so they can't be re-used)

The mission statement of Detroit Bully Corps is:
"The foundat
ion of our program is education. Without education on spay/neuter, breed specific legislation (BSL), training, breed specific workshops, the dog fighting culture and responsible ownership, the epidemic will never end. Rescue is a mere bandage in the overall scale of the canine epidemic. Shelters are overrun, rescues are overflowing and society i
s in need of education. For every one spot we fill in our
program, we turn away 50. We average 20-25 canines at
any given time an
d 90% of our rescue population i
s comprised of the American Pit Bull Terrier. We work with canines from any and every background, whether it be a surrendered family pet, bait dog, seasoned fighter or the abused. We are a no-kill rescue/rehabilitation in that we will never euthanize for space. We, as a moral, ethical and objective organization, will NOT adopt out a canine that is a threat to society. We are advocates of the American Pit Bull Terrier, as such
we will not add to the epidemic by being irresponsible."
Detroit Bully Corps has also just been named the grand prize winner in Benzomatic's "Find Your Fire TM" Community Grants Program. They will receive $10,000 and a visit from DIY expert Nicole Curtis. Read more here.

Rescue Groups invited to collaborate with Humane Society of Macomb
|
The
Humane Society of Macomb's Rescue Collaboration Project i

ooking for rescue groups to help place shelter pets. Member groups won't be charged pull fees for animals who are already spayed/neutered, but will a deposit for unaltered pets will be collected.

The single mission of the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance is to stop the killing of healthy and treatable homeless cats and dogs in Michigan shelters.
MPFA is an all-volunteer
organization collaborating with shelter and rescue organizations to achieve No Kill through training, technical
assistance,
education and advocacy.
