CAN Staff Attend Finding Words Oklahoma
Rose Turner along with her Trainees
Finding Words Oklahoma is a training program that provides child abuse professionals a comprehensive introduction to a forensic interview process to improve one's ability to effectively and reliably interview children about abuse.

From September 28 - October 2, Rose Turner participated as a faculty member, in providing this training to child abuse professionals from across Oklahoma. CAN Child Specialist, Leslie Foster, and two Tulsa Assistant District Attorneys, Tanya Wilson and Mark Morgan, attended the program as trainees as well.

The 32 professionals participating in this training included child welfare workers, District Attorney, law enforcement and mental health personnel from various multidisciplinary teams across the state. The five-day training was conducted at the Moore-Norman Technology Center and included lecture materials, role-play interviews applying the techniques learned, as well as a written test.

Participants found the training to be very worthwhile and effective in learning new techniques to apply and incorporate into their local multidisciplinary team response to child abuse and neglect.

Leslie Foster (fourth from right), Tanya Wilson (far left) and Mark Morgan (fourth from left) attended the week-long training program.
