BCI 2016 Annual Symposium Slated as a Success
Thanks to all that attended the BCI Annual Symposium on Tuesday, February 16th. The Norris Conference room at City Centre was filled with 76 team members who traveled near and far to attend a company overview presented by Mark Kennedy and the Executive Team. It's exciting to bring everyone together in one room to kick off the New Year, review another successful year in 2015, and gain insight to the future of Benefit Concepts, and learn more about BCI resources, tools, and capabilities. For more information on the topics that perk your interests, contact the area Champion.

Humana Telemedicine Delivered by Doctor on Demand
Doctor on Demand is a virtual, on-demand, 24-hour service that grants members  access to care from board certified physicians, no appointment necessary.

Telemedicine is now live nationwide (excluding Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana and Puerto Rico) and is a great value for your groups, for several key reasons:
  • Offers consumers access to convenient, high-quality, and affordable care whenever and however they want it.
  • Offers an additional service to existing fully-insured and level-funded premium members, with no additional plan cost. Based on members' Humana medical plan, the cost could be $40 or less.
  • Reduces ER visits with a non-emergency, after-hours care option.
  • Enhances productivity by reducing employees' time away from work with on-demand and after-hours service.
  • Improves the health and well-being of the workforce by making the appropriate services available.
Help your clients create a healthier workplace by introducing them to solutions that will allow them to worry less about employee wellness and productivity and focus more on their business needs.

Association News
     Greater Houston Builders Association
The issues over industries and governance at GHBA have been resolved, making GHBA a very viable option for groups that qualify for the coverage. The GHBA plan, administered by Humana and underwritten by Milliman, offers rates that can be aggressive, giving BCI a competitive advantage. Please keep in mind that the GHBA program is a semi-exclusive opportunity open to select agents in Houston, making GHBA untouchable to much of the competition.

Though plans are underwritten, the rate movement is within reach in most cases. Groups with more than 25 employees only need to fill out the Group Health Questionnaire; groups 25 and under need to fill out both the Group Health Questionnaire and the Personal Health Questionnaire. This is what was done pre-ACA -- think "Back to the Future."

Don't let the issues of the past keep you from taking advantage of GHBA for the future!

Resources for GHBA can be found in the Projects portion of Basecamp entitled "GHBA," as well as in the F-drive under "Carrier Data." For more information, contact Mark Mann or Todd Morrow.

     Maxwell Health
While the Zen-like companies have not encroached upon BCI clients to the fullest extent, employers may have an increased sense of market awareness and the threat exists with competitive agents in the market place. Not only is Maxwell Health a great defensive play for you with your clients, but it also represents a great offense capability to use in capturing new business.

You can find Maxwell information in two places:

1. In Basecamp: click on "Projects" found at the top of the page, then scroll down until you find the project entitled "Maxwell Health"

2. Go into the F-drive, click the "BCI Solutions" folder, then go to "BCI Technology Solutions," then to "Benefit Administration," and there you will find the "Maxwell" folder. If you or someone in your office would like access to or assistance with basecamp.com, notify Kim Cooke.

For more information on Maxwell Health or to increase your sales opportunities, contact the Maxwell Champion, Johnny Wagner.

  • A study published in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes showed that people who view a CPR instructional video are more likely to attempt life-saving resuscitation.
  • Hands-Only CPR (CPR with just chest compressions) has been proven to be as effective as CPR with breaths in treating adult cardiac arrest victims.
  • Watch and Prepare: This hands-on CPR video can help prepare you in the event of an emergency.
