FEATURE STORY
/ HIGH SPEED RAIL TO SAN JOSE
#sjplace
New information released last week by the California High-Speed Rail Authority confirms that the first leg of the State's high-speed rail system will run between Downtown San Jose and the Bakersfield area. While service is not anticipated to start before 2025, this first 250 mile stretch is an important component in the continued development of Downtown San Jose's Diridon Station as "Grand Central West."

With High Speed Rail connecting to CalTrain, Light Rail, ACE, AMTRAK, rapid and regular bus services, and future BART service, the station will become one of the busiest transportation hubs on the west coast, providing access to over 1,500 trains and buses per day.

TALENT
/ SAN JOSE HOME TO GROWING SHARE OF SILICON VALLEY TECH TALENT
#sjtalent
Recently released census data confirms that San Jose is an increasingly attractive location for today's tech talent.

According to the 2014 American Community Survey, San Jose is home to 73,200 workers in computer, science and engineering occupations, more than any other city in the Bay Area. In comparison, San Francisco has 59,900 tech worker residents; Palo Alto and Mountain View have 9,100 and 13,600 respectively.

Notably, San Jose is growing its share of the region's tech workers. The number of tech workers living in San Jose rose 30% from 2010 to 2014, accounting for half of the county's total growth in techie residents during this period.  For more information,

/ FOOD MANUFACTURER FOUR-IN-ONE MOVES TO SAN JOSE!
#BuiltInSanJose
Most associate San Jose's industrial landscape with advanced manufacturing, but a full spectrum of goods are produced here. In fact, San Jose's history is deeply rooted in the canning industry that is tied to its agricultural past, and food and beverage manufacturing still is a player in the City's industrial base. San Jose is home to household names such as Eggo Waffle, Gordon Biersch Beer, and Bimbo Bread.

Joining San Jose's food manufacturing scene is Four-in-One, a condiment manufacturer, which started out in a garage in Palo Alto in the 70's and has been operating in Mountain View since 1981. They are a family and veteran owned business and the third largest individual packaged condiment manufacturer in the country, just behind Heinz and Diamond Crystal. Their new purchase of a 40,000 sq.ft. industrial building on 1011 Timothy Drive in Berryessa will allow them to substantially increase their production. In addition to the expanded floor area, co-owner Jay Lee said the 24 hour use allowance in San Jose's industrial districts was particularly appealing as they intend to increase from two to three shifts to keep up with high demand orders.

Their 25 full-time employees will join them in their new San Jose facility and they have plans to bring on-board a total of 40 full time staff. Welcome to San Jose, Four-In-One!  For more information, contact Reena Brilliot , Business Development Officer.
