I am excited to announce that we have hired James McSweeney as our new 7th and 8th grade history teacher.  With a Bachelors degree in History from Providence College, Mr. McSweeney is coming to BFCCPS after serving as a long term substitute in Middle School History in Douglas, and 2 Years at Medway Middle School, one as a special education inclusion assistant, and one as a year long 6th grade Humanities substitute.  Mr. McSweeny also has served as the Assistant Football Coach for Medway High School. Mr. McSweeney has posted a welcome on his faculty page, please be sure to check it out.  Please join me in welcoming Mr. McSweeney to the BFCCPS community!

Grade 8 Washington DC Fundraisers:

Save the Date:  Please join us for an adult only fundraiser to be held at Franklin Art Center on Friday, March 4 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Spread the news as family and friends are invited to join us for this fun event!  All proceeds will benefit the 8th grade trip to Washington, DC.

The cost of the event is $35.  BFCCPS parent, Robin Stamp, will lend her painting expertise as you make your own masterpiece to take home with you.  Enjoy some light music and take a chance at the 50/50

Space is limited, so reserve your spot as soon as possible.
       
Electronics Recycling Day: 

Join us on March 19th from 9 am to 2 pm to clean out your house or place of business and pay no more than $50! TV's Computer Monitors, Gaming Systems, Wii, XBox, VCR's, DVD Players, Laptops, Computers, kitchen electrics, appliances, old stereo equipment, pretty much anything with a plug!

The proceeds from the event will benefit the upcoming 8th Grade Trip to Washington DC. Please feel free to tell your friends and neighbors!

Coffee, Cider and pastries will also be available for sale on the day of the event. We hope to see you there!

     
Washington DC Parent & Student Trip Meeting:

T here will be a meeting in the school auditorium for all parents and students attending the 8th Grade Enrichment Trip to Washington DC. 

The meeting will address health, dress code, roommates, and other concerns and requirements of the trip.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM on Monday, March 7th.

Grade 5 - 8 School Social: 
 
Sing Your Heart Out at the 5 - 8 Middle School Social hosted by the Student Council. The event is this Friday night from 5 - 8pm in the auditorium.  Enjoy karaoke, games, prizes and more! Admission is $4 per person or $3 with a canned good donation. Please be sure to bring a few dollars in cash as pizza and snacks will be available.

Students are asked to buy tickets ahead of time, and if there are not enough tickets sold the event will unfortunately be canceled. Thursday is the last day to buy tickets and currently there have not been enough tickets sold to hold the event- and The Student council will send an email out if the event is canceled.  
Spirit Wear Extended Through Friday: 


This is your last chance to order Spring Spirit Wear including short sleeve tie-dye t's . BFCCPS PJ Pants are also available in both Youth and Adult Sizes.  Five dollars from the purchase of each pair of PJ pants will benefit the Grade 7 Quebec Trip.

3-2-1 Blastoff!

We are just under three weeks away from the OUT OF THIS  WORLD PCO Spring Family Social & Basket Raffle, on Friday, March 11th from 6:00-8:30! New this year are a professional photo booth, Student Art Auction and ex citing games, in addition to your favorite crafts, a caricature artist, a DJ, face painters, food and surprise guests!

In addition to the Student Art Auction , we are thrilled to announce the amazing  baskets and raffle items
that are sure to add excitement to the night. We encourage you to share the list of items you can win with your family and friends - this a huge PCO fundraiser!
 
Parent & Student Volunteers Needed!

The event wont be a success without the help of so many essential Student Volunteers (6-8th Grade) and Parent Volunteers. Please sign-up to lend a hand, even for just 1/2 an hour, and encourage your family to as well. It's a wonderful way to contribute to our largest community event of the year while having fun at the same time!

Capstone Corner :

8th Grade Student Abby N. will be working with AIM for her Capstone which is an organization for Downs Syndrome.  The drive will begin on Monday 2/29 and run until 3/4. Items to be collected are new items for personal grooming, toothbrushes, hair brushes, hair elastics, barrettes, hair clips, scrunchies, and combs. A collection bin will be in the trophy case area.  Thank you in advance for any support you can provide.
R eminders from the Front Office:
 
Visitors: All visitors to the school are required to sign in at the Front Office and wear a Visitor's badge. Visitors must be escorted at all times.  Thank you for your help with this!
 
Parking & Parking Lot Safety:  Parking is not allowed in marked reserved spots near the schools main entrance. These spots are reserved for the CCD program staff.
