tempoCAM Announces New Preferred Provider: Tempo Cases

As you know, equipment and vehicle theft is a real and ever-increasing problem in the construction industry.  With that in mind, we are excited to announce that CAM has partnered with Tempo Cases. Tempo designs and manufactures high tech GPS tracking systems to protect against theft and loss of valuable assets and vehicles.  Tempo's AnyCase GPS Tracking Device is a small, lightweight device that mounts easily inside tool boxes and cases, trailers, trucks, light and heavy construction equipment, and just about anything else without the need for damaging hardware or complicated mounting brackets.

The AnyCase Device has an integrated motion sensor that lets it notify you by text message and/or email if anyone moves your property without your knowledge.  You can also draw Geofences around areas on the map that your property shouldn't leave or enter and your device will notify you if it crosses any of your Geofence boundaries.  The AnyCase Device is camouflaged and is not recognizable as a tracking device; it even comes with a false "Humidi-Shield" label that makes it look like a humidity monitoring device.

The AnyCase Device comes with a free mobile app for Apple and Android mobile devices, as well as a secure web-based tracking and account management portal.  These platforms let you track and monitor your property remotely from anywhere in the world using your smartphone, tablet or computer. The AnyCase Device works in over 120 countries around the world, and Tempo offers low-cost monthly tracking subscription plans for customers based in the U.S., Canada and Europe, as well as international tracking plans for cross-border use.

prop1CAM Supports Proposal 1

The organization's Government Affairs Committee and CAM Board of Directors strongly encourage you to vote Yes on Proposal 1. Proposal 1 is our last best chance to turn things around and get safer roads. It provides the money we need to make driving safer for everyone. And the best part of Proposal 1 is that it gives taxpayers three strong guarantees:
  1. Every penny in state taxes we pay at the pump is guaranteed to go to transportation. No longer will Lansing be able to divert taxes paid on gas to non-transportation purposes.
  2. Every penny in the School Aid Fund is guaranteed in the constitution to fund education where it helps our kids the most: our K-12 schools and community colleges. No more shell games with education funding.
  3. And taxpayers even get guarantees from the road builders. Road builders would have to provide guarantees in the form of warranties on the roads they build. If the roads are not built right, the road builders - not taxpayers - will pay for the repairs.
No one likes their taxes to go up, but we can all agree that we don't want our bridges to fall down or our streets and highways to become unusable. Voting Yes on Proposal 1 to once and for all guarantee funding for safer roads. There is no Plan B coming from our politicians.

Linked here  you will find support information: Frequently Asked Questions and videos that fully support our position. We encourage you to share this information with your employees, families and friends.

Good roads lead to development; development equals construction; construction equals a prosperous construction industry. Let's keep Michigan building! Vote Yes on Proposal 1.

CREWCREW to Host Redevelopment Luncheon On May 12

CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Detroit is inviting local professionals to lunch on Tuesday, May 12 to learn more about upcoming redevelopment opportunities in the area.

The program, which takes place at the GEM Theatre in Detroit, will feature a panel discussion about the planning and progress of four high-profile redevelopment projects in the region: The Detroit Packard Plant; Michigan State Fairgrounds; Village of Bloomfield; and the M-1 Rail project.

Kari Smith, director of development for the Packard Plant Project, will share plans to involve the community in the highly-anticipated Packard Plant redevelopment. She will also give a progress report on the first phase of the project, which involves the removal of dangerous areas that can't be salvaged.

Craig Willian, vice president of retail development at REDICO, will address plans for the Michigan State Fairgrounds and the Village of Bloomfield complex. With more than 160 acres of mixed-use real estate availability, the Fairgrounds redevelopment will feature retail, entertainment, multifamily, senior housing and educational facilities. The Village of Bloomfield is an 80-acre parcel that straddles the border of Pontiac and Bloomfield. Willian will share details on his firm's plan for a successful redevelopment and whether any of the existing structures can be repurposed.

Laura Wagner, quality control manager at Stacy and Witbeck, the firm serving as construction manager of the Detroit M-1 Rail project, will talk about the 1,800 feet of track already laid and the 18,000 more expected to come in 2015. She will also discuss plans for the rail's operation along Woodward Avenue from downtown to Midtown Detroit, as well as intentions to extend further north.

Jennette Smith, managing editor for Crain's Detroit Business, will moderate the discussion. REDICO, Testing Engineers and Consultants and Walbridge are sponsoring the event. A Q-and-A session will follow the panel discussion.

The program takes place from 11:30 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, May 12 at the GEM Theatre, located at 333 Madison Avenue in Detroit. The cost to attend is $45 for CREW members and $65 for non-members. Lunch is included, and parking will be available in the GEM's garage. Register here.
