A ccording to a recent Gallup poll of US employees:
  • 32.5% Engaged
  • 51.7% Not Engaged
  • 15.7% Actively Disengaged.   And we're not talking about marital status.

Results were based on rating key workplace elements such as: having the opportunity to do what they do best each day; having someone at work who encourages development; and believing their opinions count at work.

"Employee engagement is strongly connected to business outcomes essential to an organization's financial success, such as Productivity, Profitability and Customer Engagement." (Gallup)

So let me ask ~ How are you truly engaging your employees at your meetings?  How do you seek their input?  How are you valuing their opinions?  If your staff leaves your meetings unclear, unenergized, tasked with more "to do's" and "to don'ts" consider it might be time for something different, as most likely they are part of the 70% that are unengaged at work.  Make a change to engage, empower, implant purpose, alignment and direction.

1. Good employees love to feel productive.  Ask your employees "What prohibits you from being productive each day?"  Take steps to remove that roadblock.

2. Profitability may not be something an employee knows, but they do know when they feel underpaid, unappreciated or spending way too much time on a client.   Connect with them to find out why.  You are, after all, on the same team.

3. Lastly, employees like to have the tools, confidence and ability to help clients.  How often do they say "I don't know?" or "I'm sorry".   Take steps to reduce those phrases and emphasize ways to fully understand the client request, what brings it to the surface, and when they need an answer.  Often times clients don't really know what they are asking and using clarifying questions can create a highly successful customer engagement.

 Productivity, Profitability and Customer Engagement.
When your employees understand and feel their importance,  influence and contribution to the greater good, they WILL become engaged.

That's the power of Facilitation to Fruition!
