'Reutilizar para vivir': zero plastic campaign
    
Ocotea Tours & Transfers supports zero plastic initiatives and has made its own internal campaign called ' REUTILIZAR PARA VIVIR', which aims to reduce the use of plastic bottles among employees with this reusable bottle. 
 
Since early September they have been giving bottles to the staff and other business collaborators. It is long lasting metal bottle with an attractive design that promotes being friendly to the environment. It also have the company 's logo and the campaing's name "Reutilizar para vivir".

Consistent with the commitment to develop sustainable tourism to produce social and environmental benefits in the Monteverde area, on September 16 and 17 2015, the Department Social Responsibility Certifications and Tourism evaluation process was conducted by the Department of Certifications and Social Responsibility of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute.

International Day of Older Persons -  October 1 
 
 
Under the theme of 2015: Sustainability and the inclusion of older people in the urban environment, the United Nations promotes the International Day of Older Persons.
 
To Ocotea Tours & Transfers it is important to recognize the value that older adults have as they contribute every day to the functioning of society. Let us take this opportunity to value every older adult we are close to.

International Day of Non-Violence -  October 2
 
 
Is an occasion to "disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness". The resolution reaffirms "the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence" and the desire "to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence".

World Animal Day - October 4 
   
Mission of World Animal Day: To raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals.  It's celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology. Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognized as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare.
 
World Habitat Day -  October 5
   
The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October of every year as World Habitat Day. The purpose of World Habitat Day is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns.  
 
World Habitat Day 2015 will be celebrated on October 5, 2015 under the theme Public Spaces for All. 
Culture Day -  October 12
 

Every October 12th, Costa Rica celebrates Culture Day, which conmemorates the anniversary of the first voyage of Christopher Columbus to the Americas, as well as the fusion of different cultures between Europe and the Americas. 


This Cultures Day should be a day for objective and deeper reflection, to be used as startin point towards a new attitude of greater tolerance, sharing, and respect among all racial groups that are part of our nation.

XI Latin American Congress of Private Reserves
November 8-14
 
The Costa Rican Network of Natural Reserves (Red Costarricense de Reservas Naturales), invites you to participate in the XI Latin American Congress of Private Reserves, which will be held from November 08th to November 14th.

This itinerant Congress will visit San Jose (the capital of Costa Rica), Sarapiqui (northern plains, tropical rainforest), will pass through La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano), Monteverde (cloud forest and continental divide) and Punta Leona (Central Pacific Forest transition between tropical dry forests of northwestern and southern rainforests, and white sand beaches with waters ranging between
26°C and 28°C).
