Ballroom Night at the Mansion

Grab a date or some friends and join us by dancing the night away at the Highlands Ranch Mansion. The celebration takes place Thursday, February 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. You can enjoy snacks, beer and wine for purchase, dancing with instructors, and live music from The Ballroom Trio.

You must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. To get your tickets, visit www.highlandsranchmansion.com.

Docent spotlight: Karen Dangberg

Meet Karen Dangberg. She is a volunteer docent at the Highlands Ranch Mansion. Karen has been a docent for one year. When asked what she enjoys most about volunteering at the Mansion, she replied, "All of it!

"I enjoy all of the information that we provide about the Mansion, spending time here... it's so much fun! I love the other docents, staff and I've met all these cool people."

Karen's favorite room at the Mansion is the Solarium. She likes how bright and sunny it is, after all she says, she is a sunshine person originally from Florida.

Karen also volunteers as a performance assistant at the Lakewood Cultural Center.
Mansion lawn is a public park

Looking for a park to visit in Highlands Ranch? How about the beautiful setting of the front lawn at the Highlands Ranch Mansion?

The Mansion front lawn is a public park and is open daily from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a few exceptions. If there is a private event taking place at the Mansion, the lawn will be closed and signs will be posted indicating such.

Mansion park rules:
  • No dogs
  • Bicycles, skateboards and scooters must be dismounted within the park
  • No alcohol, except by permit
  • No glass containers

The Mansion is full of history

John Springer and his first wife Eliza Hughes, moved to Denver in 1896. Springer immersed himself in local law and politics. He also had a passion for horses, especially show horses. 

In 1897 he purchased several small ranches south of Denver including the Rotherwood farm. He then consolidated the properties into his 12,000-acre Springer Cross Country Horse and Cattle Ranch, upon which he raised rare German Oldenburg coach stallions.

John conducted an extensive remolding of the small Rotherwood farmhouse by adding a large living room and turret which gave the home a castle-like appearance as shown in the photo above.
