Message from the Executive Director
The PCD is making moves!

Since starting my position in August, we've undertaken a comprehensive strategic planning effort to guide us over the next  three years. We want to make sure we meet the community's needs with creative and   resourceful  programming.

One of our biggest goals is to support area businesses, including helping new businesses to get off the ground. Performing this work is at the core of PCD's mission. We want to connect our area business owners to all the resources they need to be successful. So, as you look to grow or begin your venture, come to the PCD! We are here to ensure that Hamilton continues to have a vibrant, diverse business community.

Nine MINI-Grant recipients selected in October
At the end of August, a call went out to local businesses to apply for a PCD Mini-grant. The grants became available through creative packaging of leftover dollars from previous funding cycles of the Micro-Assistance grant program.  The goal of these mini-grants  was to provide local businesses a quick boost of dollars. In October the selection committee met and chose nine recipients for the 2015 $500 mini-grants.

Marotto Lutter explains "These mini-grants were a way to give a KICK to our local business community by providing a chance to secure resources for a project they may have been thinking about, but didn't have the funds to pursue."

The grants were awarded to the following businesses
  • CA Fitness Apparel
  • The Zen Den
  • The FITT Stop
  • Flour and Salt Bakery
  • Helping Hands Massage Therapy
  • Julie's Shear Perfection
  • New Moon Farms
  • Old Home Distillers
  • Dawn LaFrance, Psy. D.
Each month we will tell you more details about the recipients and their chosen projects; new equipment, marketing enhancements or even a barn-side mural!!!
Mini-Grant Recipient: Dawn LaFrance, Psy. D.

Dawn is a clinical psychologist practicing independently in Hamilton, she works with clients who struggle with emotional distress and other symptoms due to past traumas.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a clinical practice that has proven effective with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Dawn is certified to provide this form of treatment and is one of very few, if not the only, in the area to offer this treatment to her clients.

Dr. LaFrance indicated in her mini-grant application a desire to purchase a piece of equipment for her private practice that allows for the use of bilateral stimulation.  Purchase of this will allow her "to expand the ways that I help clients affected by trauma and provide options for eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR)".
