Farm Day Fun
Fall in Waltham means fall festivals and one of our favorites is Waltham Farm Day at the Waltham Fields Community Farm! This year Healthy Waltham did an arts and crafts project making prints with fruits and vegetables, assisted by two high school students. Thanks to all who came out for this annual celebration of local farming here in Waltham. For more photos from the day, please click here.
Fun at Farm Day 2015, doing an art project with kids using veggies!

Waltham Day on the Common
Another favorite fall event is Waltham Day on the Common. We were pleased to partner this year with the Waltham Healthy Aging Project. We handed out apples provided by Hannaford Supermarket and got to talk to lots of folks about our healthy food access survey and the healthy aging study. We look forward to sharing the results with the community. If you have not filled out the healthy food access survey, you can find it on our website here

Outreach Market Cooking Demo
What to do with all those greens? We have some suggestions. Earlier this month, we were at the Waltham Fields Outreach Market doing a delicious slaw featuring collards and cabbage ( click for recipe). The Outreach Market is still going on for a few more weeks. It  is held on Tuesday evenings from 4:30-6:30pm at the corner of Cherry and Crescent Streets. Low income residents can purchase fresh local produce from the Waltham Fields Farm at a reduced cost. Learn more about this program here

GWArc Cooking Workshop
We are pleased to partner with the Greater Waltham Arc (GWArc) on healthy cooking workshops for their clients! We had a great time making a healthy early fall meal of turkey chili, zucchini and corn muffins, and apple crisp. Check out the recipes on our website here.
