Commercial Flights Return to Albert Whitted
On Monday, February 1, Mayor Kriseman was on board as Tropic Air made their first commercial flight to Ft. Lauderdale from St. Petersburg's Albert Whitted Airport! The flight comes 102 years after the famous flight of Tony Jannus and former St. Petersburg Mayor Abram C. Pheil.

Tampa Bay Reporter: St. Pete Mayor Chooses Tampa Company to Operate New Pier
Mayor Rick Kriseman has chosen the Tampa firm of Colliers Arnold to manage St. Petersburg's Pier District.
"I have determined that the proposal presented by Colliers Arnold provides the city the greatest opportunity for successful operation and management of the Pier District," Kriseman said today.

Tampa Tribune: Sunday 'blue laws' outdated
Back when I was a Bucs season-ticket holder, I would observe a ritual that was funny to watch but hard to figure out. For games starting at 1 p.m., there would be a mobbing of beer vendors at kickoff time because of a local ordinance that prohibited the sale of alcohol before that hour on Sunday. Many fans would miss the kickoff and the first plays of the game getting adult beverages, and I would wonder why it was necessary to wait so long to have a cold one.

Tampa Bay Times: Kriseman announces Commerce Park picks
The long-vacant patch of land along 22nd St S, which has gone by at least two names, has finally found tenants and city officials are touting it as the first example of private investment in the newly-created South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area.
A consortium of marine-parts manufacturers and a motorcycle business picked Tuesday by Mayor Rick Kriseman promise to bring 65 jobs near to some of the city's poorest neighborhoods.

Tampa Tribune: Tall ship Lynx sails into St. Petersburg marina
Two masts are towering above all others at Harborage Marina in St. Petersburg this week.
The masts belong to the tall ship Lynx, a replica of a Topsail schooner used during the War of 1812. The ship, which is 80 feet long with a 23-foot beam and draft of 9 feet, arrived Tuesday and is visiting the marina through Sunday.

Bay News 9: St. Petersburg angling to be site of future Cuban consulate
If there's one U.S. city that can't wait for diplomatic relations to warm up with Cuba, it's St. Petersburg.
For months, city officials have more than hinted at their interest in breaking ground on a future Cuban consulate.
"We're not as big as our neighbors across the bay," said Ben Kirby, spokeman for St. Petersburg mayor Rick Kriseman, "but we're the right city to host a consulate."
