Milwaukee wins President's
Healthy Communities Challenge

Over 89,000 people in the Milwaukee area selected a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace during the 2016 open enrollment period, including approximately 38,000 new participants. This achievement earns Milwaukee a visit from President Obama in the coming weeks.

IMPACT is proud to have partnered with the Milwaukee Enrollment Network (MKEN), a public/private consortium committed to promoting adequate and affordable health insurance coverage. Among MKEN's tactics, Mayor Tom Barrett opened libraries for enrollment events and coordinated phone banks and robocalls. County Executive Chris Abele ran digital signage on County buses directing people to Healthcare.gov; and engaged IMPACT to provide 2-1-1 services that helped people get connected to enrollment sites. The effective practices implemented in Milwaukee will help guide future enrollment efforts nationwide.

The White House announced the "Healthy Communities Challenge" to engage key communities with a high percentage of uninsured residents. Milwaukee was selected as one of 20 communities to participate in the challenge based on potential impact and demonstrated collaborative success.

Denis McDonough, White House Chief of Staff, expresses President Obama's congratulations to Milwaukee partners for beating 19 other cities across the nation in enrollment for the Affordable Care Act.

Coordinated Entry for Homeless Services puts Milwaukee in the spotlight

Milwaukee's Coordinated Entry system
is a model for the nation
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is reaching out to select Continuum of Care (CoC) providers with successful Coordinated Entry systems. Milwaukee's Coordinated Entry for Homeless Services system, which was one of the first in the nation, utilizes IMPACT as the central access point for referral to emergency shelter. HUD's goal is to compile information about how we designed our system and share it with other CoCs just beginning the process of implementing Coordinated Entry in their communities. The information will also be assembled into a toolkit which highlights best practices and can be used as a resource for any CoC that is looking to begin, or improve upon, its efforts. Click here for more information about Milwaukee's Coordinated Entry system.

Greenfield Police Department :
'Cops Assisting Addiction Recovery'  partners with IMPACT

The first of its kind in Wisconsin but modeled after a groundbreaking program in Gloucester, MA, the Greenfield Police Department is offering resources - rather than punishment - to residents who seek help for heroin and prescription opiate addiction. As a partner, IMPACT's role is to screen individuals who express a desire to get clean, determine eligibility and level of care for the person to enter treatment and/or be referred to recovery support services funded by the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division. Since the 'Cops Assisting Addiction Recovery' (CAARE) program started in January, IMPACT has helped three Greenfield residents referred by the police department.
