  • Purposes:  (1) to recognize students' entrepreneurial successes in business plan or other entrepreneurial competitions,  (2) to high- light the learning process that takes place when students participate in these competitions, (3) to feature students' entrepreneurial talents, and (4) to promote the chapters'/schools' supportive atmosphere for developing great entrepreneurs.

"Find Your Launch City
(It's not all about the money)"

Deciding where to launch your startup is no easy feat. INC Magazine examined factors which would impact that decision, like rent and taxes, in eight different cities to help entrepreneurs like you evaluate your options. Ted D. Zoller, director of University of North Carolina Chapel Hill's Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Kenan-Flagler Business School, separated these cities into three categories on "the basis of their entrepreneurial ecosystems-organic and mature, entrepreneur-led, and nascent and developing. Here is what he found:

Organic and mature New York + San Francisco- Zoller thinks San Francisco is the best city for a startup given its density of high-growth companies, access to capital, and depth of talent. It does however have a high cost of living.

Entrepreneur-Led Omaha + Denver + Las Vegas- These cities are a good choice if you're looking to plug into a well-connected startup community, build strategic partnerships with other business owners and avoid battles for local resources like funding and staff.

Nascent and Developing Detroit + Nashville + Miami- Zoller says each of these cities offers a cost-effective location for building a brand and lacks the relentless competition for talent that is common in larger, more mature communities. These cities offer low costs and room to expand.

"How to Make the Quantum Jump From
Dreamer to Entrepreneurial Great in 2016"

In business, a quantum jump is one that is significantly noticeable on a growth chart, the kind of jump conservatives don't plan for but only dream of. In order to make bolder moves in 2016, keep these eight things in mind:
  • Take calculated risks in investing to increase potential. This isn't to say diving into uncharted territory is a calculated risk, but you must first slowly push the envelope, then dive in once you've done your homework.
  • Have a plan that will propel you into success with explosive growth. Developing a strong strategy will help you visualize success and prepare for challenges allowing you to focus on your path toward success.
  • Grow Personally in order to mentally handle the added responsibility and stress of success. Your team will only be as strong as you are so make sure to increase your skill set before expanding your organization.
  • The entire team must be on board with fast growth in order to prevent negative influence over the rest of the team and erode overall confidence. Everyone doesn't have to be as confident as you are, but it is important that everyone is on the same page by discussing the growth plan and strategy with your leaders, find out what scares them and talk it through.
  • Narrow your focus on your goals. The more focused you are on that quantum jump, the more likely you will have a multitude of ideas that can impact your business. Remember that this will sacrifice other opportunities - something even the biggest companies do. Just ask yourself: "What one or two initiatives will make the greatest impact? Does it fit my business?"
  • Don't be limited by last year's resultsUpward and downward spikes are normal because revenue and growth charts don't always follow a smooth trajectory. Ignore the world that tells you that you aren't ready. if you feel the time is right, then jump.
  • Remember that momentum takes time to build. Prepare yourself mentally now for setbacks and adversaries that are inevitably going to cross your plan.
  • Accept that timing will never feel perfect"A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow." What separates the dreamers from the entrepreneurial greats is tenacity, resolve, adaptability and inner strength.

If You Are an Efficiency Fanatic, Try
 the Workflow APP !
Workflow  allows you to streamline your day by combining different actions from various apps together in one place. For instance, create a shortcut for "Uber to my next event," and the app automatically pulls address data from your next calendar invite and requests an Uber to pick you up from your current location and drive you there. Or you could set a workflow to guide you to the nearest coffee shop in one tap, or create an animated GIF using the last video you shot. Its possibilities are only limited to the unique sequence of actions you can dream up. - For more information, go to Thrillist.com.
