East Central Martial Arts Hosts Open House
On Saturday, February 27th, East Central Martial Arts will host a special Ryukaya Kobudo Seminar at their studio location in Pine City.

Ryukyu Kobudo is the indigenous fighting art of the Okinawan Islands.  Prior to becoming the 47th Prefecture of Japan, Okinawa was the site of an independent nation called the Ryukyu Kingdom.  Through two specific periods in history the use of swords and archery weapons were banned in Okinawa, which lead to the development of other weapons such as the Bo, Sai, Kama, Tonfa, Tinbe & Rochin, Tekko, Eku, Surichen, and Nunchaku.  Ryukyu Kobudo continues to be practiced and preserved today in Okinawa and increasingly internationally.  Its roots actually predate Karate and often the arts are practiced as separate systems in traditional Okinawan Dojos.  This seminar is an excellent chance to see actual preserved forms that have a direct lineage to the roots of martial arts development in the birthplace of Karate.

Advance registration for the seminar is requested, and space if filling up quickly.  Contact Lowell Johnson for more information at 763.843.7955.
