mainCelebrate National Nutrition Month!

National Nutrition Month is celebrated annually in March, and this year's theme is "Savor the Flavor of Eating Right." There are lots of ways you could celebrate this theme in your program! You could take time to discuss the flavor, textures, and shapes of foods you eat, or highlight ethnic or cultural food traditions during this month. You might even try some new herbs to increase flavor without increasing salt/sodium.
SeasonalEating for the Season: Herbs

Herbs are a great way to flavor foods all year long! Using herbs (such as basil, cilantro, thyme or oregano) is a great way to increase flavor and decrease salt. (Using and eating too much salt may increase blood pressure and increase risk of heart disease).

Herbs can be used fresh, dried, or powdered. If substituting fresh herbs for dried herbs, remember to use a larger amount than what the recipe calls for.

PLAYVIDEOPLAY Video Series

This month's PLAY video focuses on ball rolling. This skill is important for a number of leisure activities, and is also a precursor to under-hand throwing.
