Advent Update
It's been a busy Advent at Grace! On Sunday, November 29, at 6:00 pm, we had a service of Choral Evensong for Advent--a very special occasion and beginning for this holy season. Each Sunday evening after that, we have had a Choral Compline service, and we will continue through Sunday, December 20. This, too, has been a special observance of Advent for those who have attended and has been an opportunity to learn something new. On Sunday, October 13, we hosted the annual Aaron McNeil Christmas party, with lots of children, singing of carols and fun Christmas songs, a reading of "The Night before Christmas," and a visit from Santa! No child went home empty-handed. Thanks to all of those who contributed, and especially to Lannie Ross who coordinated the entire event, to Ann Bourland who came from Nashville to direct and inspire the singing, to Tilley Warren who brought special gifts for a drawing and to share his good cheer, to Maggie Blane who brought craft materials and worked with the kids, and to all the rest of us, too numerous to name, who helped make the afternoon such a success. And, of course, special thanks to our secret Santa!

Christmas at Grace School
Forget Advent for this crew, Grace kindergarten and pre-school has been celebrating Christmas ever since Thanksgiving--culminating in two big events this week! Tuesday of this week was the big annual Christmas party with lots of goodies and fun activities and a special visit from another secret Santa--followed on Wednesday by the annual Christmas program in the nave of the church with everyone in costume--shepherds, angels, the holy family, and even a star to rest over the manger. The main theme of the program was "no room in the inn" and finding the shelter for Jesus' birth. The children and their families also adopted two children from an "angel tree" and had the enjoyment of giving to others. They're off now for a two-week break!

Update on GraceWorks
GraceWorks has had a phenomenal selling season for Christmas--including a display at the church, participation in several craft fairs, and completing various special orders. Our screen-printed Christmas cards, hand-poured candles, and beautifully hand-beaded bracelets have all sold like hot cakes! In the new year, we will be focusing more attention on building up internet sales and on organizing our various components in preparation for moving forward by expanding our product line and increasing the number of people who will benefit from working through us to become more fully employed.
If you haven't finished your Christmas shopping, take a look at the GraceWorks display or call the church to determine another time that you might stop by to see and purchase our items.

Annual Fund Update
To date, we have received forty pledge cards for 2016, and we think there may be eight or ten more potential pledgers who haven't yet returned their cards. If you are one of those, please pray a little more about this decision and bring or send those cards in. It would be very helpful to know how much income we can count on as we are envisioning our ongoing expansion of mission and allocating the funds necessary to accomplish that vision. Many thanks to those who have worked on this campaign--including those who attended the kick-off weekend with Keith Stroud, those who worked on our "stewardship" evening with Italian Dinner and ministry fair, and those who have shared their passion for Grace Church and its ministry through Ministry Minutes on Sunday mornings. Let's make Grace Church all that God is calling us to be at this time and in this place!

Glass Recycling
Even though we now have a recycling center next door to the church, through the generosity of Carson Stone, we are continuing to recycle glass in Nashville. The receptacle has been moved across E. 5th St. behind the Red House. This will hopefully discourage others from using it as a trash can. Keep bringing your glass so it can be properly recycled.

Kroger R
e-Registration
We are not receiving the amount from Kroger that we believe is a reflection of the amount of money our church members spend there. It has been brought to our attention that we must each re-register our Kroger cards in order for the kindergarten to receive the benefit from them. This is easily done online. Simply log onto
www.kroger.com/communityrewards
and search for Grace Church Kindergarten or enter 88636 and link your card to our school. (I just updated mine, and it took about 10 seconds! Alice)
Thanks for your help and your support of our ministry to the children and their families.

"Now the Work of Christmas Begins" (Howard Thurman)
When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart.
