Folsom Police to Host 'Coffee with a Cop' Wednesday
Grab a cup of coffee and get to know Folsom Police Chief Cynthia Renaud and at "Coffee with a Cop" on February 24. The casual meet-and-greet will be held at 6 p.m. at Peet's Coffee & Tea at 1290 E. Bidwell Street. The "Coffee with a Cop" program is designed to build partnerships between the Folsom Police Department and the communities it serves, one cup of coffee at a time.  For more information call the Folsom Police Department at 355-7230. 
Public Safety Forum Tonight
Learn how state, county and city leaders work together to maintain the safety of the Folsom community at the Issues and Insight forum tonight. The interactive, free forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Folsom Lake College. Panelists include Folsom Police Chief Cynthia Renaud, Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, Sacramento County Chief of Emergency Services Stephen Cantelme and Director of California Governor's Office of Emergency Services Mark Ghilarducci. Folsom Parks & Recreation Registration System Upgrade
Online and in-person class/camp/event registration and facility reservations will be unavailable at the start of this week due to a major upgrade of the registration software system. During this time, cash transactions will be accepted for:
  • Folsom Zoo Sanctuary entry fees
  • Folsom Sports Complex daily admission/drop-in fees (existing passes will be honored), and concession sales at the Timeout Cafe
  • Folsom Aquatic Center daily admission/drop-in fees (existing passes will be honored)
  • Folsom Skate & Bike Park daily admission/drop-in fees (existing passes will be honored)
All Parks & Recreation facilities will remain open for their regular hours of operation, including 48 Natoma Senior Center and Art Center, the Folsom Aquatic Center, the Folsom Sports Complex, the Folsom Skate and Bike Park, the Gallery at 48 Natoma, and the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary (note: the Zoo Gift Shop will not be open).  Our goal is to make this interruption in service as brief as possible.  When the systems are up and running again, our current customers will be notified by email.  Please call 355-7285 with any questions.
 
Pedal Stop Offers Secure Bike Parking in Historic Folsom        
Folsom's Historic District is a hub for cyclists, offering easy access to the Light Rail, trails, Lake Natoma, restaurants and shops. Cyclists can safely store bikes when visiting the Historic District at the Pedal Stop, located in the Historic District parking garage.  Pedal Stop offers convenient and secure temporary bike parking for less than a dollar a day.  The facility can accommodate 60 bikes, as well as storage space for clothes, bags and shoes.  For more information or to purchase a smart card, visit www.bikelink.org

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Folsom Public Library will host the popular bi-annual book sale March 4 - 6, featuring thousands of books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs at deeply discounted prices. There is no limit on the number of bags sold. Come Friday for the best selection; come Sunday for the best prices. $5 admission on Friday only. Preschool Open Houses
Folsom Parks & Recreation's Fun Factory Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness classrooms are hosting open houses for parents to meet our wonderful teachers, ask questions, and determine which program and location best suits your child.  The open houses will be held on March 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at:
  • Fun Factory Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma Street
  • Fun Factory Folsom Sports Complex, 66 Clarksville Road
  • Kindergarten Readiness at the Hinkle Creek Nature Center, 7000 Baldwin Dam Road

Winter is a Great Time to Visit the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary
The zoo's animal residents tend to be more active in the months with cooler weather.  Plan a visit soon and see the amusing and amazing animal antics of our tigers, bears, and all of the other furry and feathered animals.  The zoo is located at 403 Stafford Street; winter hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.  Weekday admission is $4/ages 2-12 and ages 65+, $5/ages 13+, and free for ages under 2 years; fees increase by $1 on weekends.  Learn more about the zoo at www.FolsomZooFriends.org.
