BEDC Snapshot: January - February
On Thursday January 28 th , Mayor Rick Goldring presented his State of the City Address. This is Mayor Goldring's sixth address and the focus was on Burlington's Draft 2015 - 2040 Strategic Plan. The focus of council is to actively city-build, with clear objectives on employment, sustainability and improvements to transit. The Plan focuses on four key areas:

1. A City that Grows
2. A City that Moves
3. A Healthy and Greener City
4. An Engaging City

These four pillars will guide the growth of the City. Mayor Goldring spoke to the development of Burlington and the continued intensification of city spaces. He described the focus of council to support start-up and growth businesses, to develop a Regional Employment and Innovation District and the continued partnerships with post-secondary education institutions. BEDC has aligned their mandate with the Plan and will work with the City and other community stakeholders to ensure that Burlington continues to be a great place to live, work, and play.
