Religious Education Outreach

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! The Nursery opens early for parents to attend our Sunday Morning Spiritual Practice . Spirit Play will participate in the Stone Soup story and True Reflections will finish up their sessions on tying blankets as a special spiritual practice. The Junior High Youth Group will meet again on Sunday, January 31. Our Senior High Youth Group will gather this morning to engage in meaningful conversations. Religious Education always welcomes new volunteers and people with energetic thoughts and ideas about our program. If you have been thinking about your desire to help, let me know!

Roger's Birthday Celebration!

On Sunday, February 7, families are invited to join Rev Roger in celebrating his 55th birthday. He is hosting a party at the Sacramento Central YMCA gymnasium for our UU kids and youth, with some game playing fun! Sport options include two or three of the following, depending on interest: soccer, basketball, dodgeball, bouldering rock wall and more. Game playing 3:30-5:00 with snacks/celebration till 5:30 PM at 2021 W Street. There is no charge, as Roger is hosting, but voluntary donations to YMCA Strong Kids Campaign are invited. Also, leadership is welcome for party refreshments/décor. Because this event is limited to 20 kids/youth and their accompanied adults - this party is limited to registered UUSS participants in Religious Education. Please visit the Religious Education Welcome Table this weekend to sign up! For questions or to volunteer your time, please contact Miranda.

Games Night Planning

We are looking for volunteers to help host this monthly social event. We will have a planning meeting, Sunday January 17 at 12:00pm after service in Room 6. Email Sarah Turner for more information.

Upcoming Discussion on Gender

I hope that all Religious Education volunteers will plan to attend the discussion about gender and gender identity. We have tentatively planned for this event to be on Sunday, April 10 in the Fahs Room. UUSS continues to strive in serving in our ministry and to be as inclusive as possible. Please let RE Coordinator Miranda or Rev Roger know if you have any questions.

Ornament Pick Up

If you brought an ornament to our Yule celebration on December 20 and would like it back, check out the boxes on the bench outside Rev Lucy's office.

Coffee Volunteers

If you love to drink coffee after church on Sunday help make that happen! Take a look around and learn if participating in coffee service is for you. Your commitment can be as much as four hours once a month, or an hour of helping out after the service.

RE Volunteers - check out the Website Training on 1/17

This is our third training and now there is a beginners class (12:30-1:30) AND an advanced class (1:45p-2:45p). If you want to learn how to post updates for your group then the beginners class is meant for you. The training will be in the library. This is a follow along sort of training so bring a laptop to class. You can also bring a tablet BUT things may look different on it and in the past that has slowed the person down. If you have neither that's fine and I will have a few extra laptops there for you. If you have questions leave a comment or email us at [email protected].
