Principals' Post
Updates from Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Brown

Congratulations to Lyon's Math Team for taking 1st place in the team event at the most recent MCTM math competition.  Ten out of thirteen students qualified for this coming weekend's regional competition.  Lyon students placed in the top 5 in every event.  Way to go Lyon!
Also, a huge thank you goes to Mrs. Altermatt, Mrs. Springston, and Ms. Lawson who have volunteered to practice weekly with these awesome math whizzes!  Good Luck to all participants this Saturday.
BSIP Update
Lyon's Attendance

Lyon students loved sticking Mrs. Mitchell to the wall for their January attendance celebration!

Even thought we battled a bit of illness, we were able to hold strong and still meet our attendance goal with 95.34% in February.  Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Brown will be breaking out the cotton candy machine soon to celebrate our awesome attendance.
Hopefully spring break will help us all get healthy and we will be able to increase our attendance percentage in the month of March.

Congratulations also goes to all Lyon 3rd grade students and teachers for having the highest monthly attendance with 96.01%!  Grade level teachers will decide on a celebration soon!

Lyon Student Leadership
Haven of the Ozarks Pet Shelter Drive

Pet Shelter Drive runs from March 14-18.  Each class is working with a student leadership member to set goals and work as a team to meet those goals.

P.E.
We capped off the month of February by exceeding
our Jump Rope for Heart goal by raising over $2,000.  Final numbers are not in yet, but the American Heart Association appreciates all our students' hard work. Thank you to all who donated.

Library/Computer Lab :
Great things are happening in the library!  We are wrapping up our research projects. Everyone has worked extremely hard locating great facts about their topics.  We can't wait to see the finished products as a result of all of that hard work!

Music:
Kindergarten-Second:  Save the date for April 28th!  Watch for information coming home soon regarding ROAR night music concerts.
Fourth and Fifth:  Recorders are being shipped soon, we will be starting recorders as soon as they get to Lyon.

Art:
Lyon artists were highlighted at last month's board meeting.  Take a look at the display.

After Spring Break, students K-5 will begin working on our Japan Unit for the Art Show in April.

Thursday, April 7th is Kindergarten Screening.
  • If you have a child who will be 5 before August 1, 2016, they will need to be screened and enrolled for the 2016-17 school year.  To schedule an appointment, contact the office at 732-3630.  Volunteers are also needed to help with this event.  Please contact Jennifer Bowers at [email protected] to volunteer.

MAP testing for grades 3-5 will begin April 11th and end on April 29th.
  • Please be mindful of these dates when making appointments and planning vacations.  It is very important that all students be in attendance during MAP testing.
