What's happening this week, May 14 - May 20
Please Contribute to our Food Drive

Christ Church is changing how we help FeedMore, Central Virginia's hunger-relief leader and an outreach ministry we have supported for many years. Instead of collecting food and monetary donations once per month, we will be collecting for several weeks two times per year - starting now!

We hope this increases your involvement and enables us to help more people in need.  In the milling area this weekend you will find grocery bags with a list of FeedMore's most-needed items. Please take a bag with you and return it filled with food by May 31. You may also make a financial donation by placing a check in the offering basket - please write "FeedMore" in the memo line.

Please, help Christ Church make a difference in the lives of hungry families in Central Virginia! If you would like to help with this mission or have questions, please contact Mary Gravely at (804) 883-7714.
Kids' Quest End-of-Year Celebration

Join us as we will celebrate another year of formation and fun at Kids' Quest. We'll gather outside this Sunday, May 17, in between worship services for doughnut holes and lemonade. We will also honor all of our fabulous KQ volunteers, each of whom will be wearing a green beaded necklace.  If you see a volunteer, please thank her/him for serving our children in such a special way!  (Rain location: parlor.)

Men's Breakfast is this Saturday

At last month’s Men’s Breakfast a two-part Easter-themed series began with the image of a resurrected Jesus coming through locked doors to reveal Himself to the disciples.  The second part of that story is Jesus giving them His peace, and leaving with them the Holy Spirit.  This set forth the mission of the church, and empowers us all to continue the work He started.

T his Saturday, May 16, we will conclude this series, hearing from a few of our own and participating in group discussion. We will explore how the Holy Spirit has equipped us to do good work and discuss times when we’ve encountered Jesus through the work of others. It all starts with a casual breakfast at 8:00 AM and we’ll have you out the door by 9:30 AM. Register now and contact Brock Vaughn with any questions.

Sharing Our Faith

Hope & Resurrection School in South Sudan opened last week with a record number of students -- 231 girls and boys.  These future leaders of this challenged country are drawn to HRSS because of the school's excellent teachers, Christian foundation, 100% pass rate of national exam, girls' dormitory, and daily school lunch.

Congrats to Haily Akens, one of our youth members, who was recently awarded the title of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Woman of the Year in Virginia. After losing a dear friend to Leukemia last year, Hailey has devoted much time to raising funds and awareness. Haily and the 8 other candidates together raised $324,000 for this cause. Congrats to Hailey!
