Join us to learn about Group Treatment Techniques from one of our favorite instructors, John Cameron, M.Ed., LCADC, CASAC.
  
By taking this course, participants will learn the basics of how to do group therapy with their client base using role playing. Structuring the group for content will be the focus as well as moving into deeper process levels for long-lasting growth. All of those who attend will learn the three stages of a group, one centering technique, and one structural group feedback and one relapse prevention technique.

Join us to learn about Working with Clients with Gang Affiliation from one of our favorite instructors, Joseph Hodges, CASAC.
  
This course is a must for the treatment professional and for any professional working with gang-affiliated individuals. Working with Clients with Gang Affiliation will focus on the latest trends in gangs, gang culture, and gang colors. This class will aid professionals in identifying gang warning signs in their clients and will also include techniques regarding how to work with clients who are gang-affiliated.

Back by popular demand! Join us on April 15th, 2016, for one of our most popular classes, Legal Standards, taught by Elizabeth Hill, LCADC, CCS, CODSl. Elizabeth Hill is back by popular demand to teach this excellent class, which is required for CADCs and LCADCs during the first biennial renewal period (2 years) after initial certification. It is also valuable information for any treatment professional, especially as we get closer to the end of the current renewal period!

By taking this course, participants will be familiarized with the potential legal aspects associated with addiction counseling. The term "therapeutic jurisprudence" will be introduced to examine the interaction between the legal system and treatment provisions. Responsibilities of addiction counselors in the State of NJ will be discussed.

Join us on April 30th, 2016 to learn about Motivational Interviewing from one of our favorite instructors, John Cameron, M.Ed, LCADC, CASAC.

May 25th, 2016 - Effects of Trauma

Join us on May 25th, 2016 to learn about the Effects of Trauma from CFPC's own Director of Clinical Services, Rachel Heath Wallace, LCSW, LCADC.

NIDA reports that almost 2/3 of individuals who have a substance use disorder also have a history of experiencing trauma.  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a common co-occurring condition for individuals who have substance use disorders. Treating these clients can also lead to burnout and eventually vicarious or secondary trauma. At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to explain normal reactions to traumatic events, d efine post traumatic stress disorder, u nderstand how the use of substances manages symptoms of trauma, d iscuss the issues of early recovery from substance use disorders and trauma, u nderstand treatment options to address co-occurring trauma and substance use disorders, d efine vicarious trauma, e valuate current professional quality of life, including symptoms of burnout and vicarious trauma, and develop a personal self care plan.
