Worship with us this Sunday!
Join us this Sunday for Traditional Worship at 9:30am or Informal Worship at 11:00am. Our scriptures are Isaiah 62:1-5 and 1Corinthians 12:1-11 with a sermon entitled Overlap. Spiritual gifts - we all have them! How do we discern them and grow them? What do we do with them and how do we help grow them in others? The Spirit builds community as gifts overlap in common spaces.

BEFORE THE WEEKEND: go AWOL!
Friday, January 15: The Danish Girl at Plaza Frontenac
Parkway members, friends and visitors have been going AWOL for years. A variety of opportunities are offered to weave us together.  Ice cream and fellowship afterwards! Meet at church at 6:30pm to carpool or in the lobby of Plaza Frontenac at 7:00pm.  RSVP to Carmen Bumgarner: [email protected] | 314-330-0813

Reminder about 2016 pledges.
Thanks to all of the generous members and friends who have completed and submitted your 2016 pledges. For those of you who haven't, please consider submitting your pledges soon - pledge cards are available in the Gathering Space. Our Stewardship Commission and Church Council are working on the 2016 budget, and having pledges helps us plan wisely for the coming church year.  Council will be meeting on January 19 to review the proposed budget for 2016, and the budget will be submitted to the congregation at the winter congregational meeting on February 7 after our 10am One Family Worship Service.

Questions? Please call John Dwyer, Convener of the Stewardship Commission at 314-821-6073. Want to submit a pledge without fussing with a card? Please email Melinda, our Financial Administrator - [email protected]
Thank you.

Prayer: Creating the Beloved Community
O God, all people are your Beloved,
across races, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations
and all the ways we are distinctive from one another.
We are all manifestations of your image.
We are bound together in an inescapable network of mutuality
and tied to a single garment of destiny.
You call us into your unending work
of justice, peace and love.
Let us know your presence among us now:
Let us delight in our diversity
that offers glimpses of the mosaic of your beauty.
Strengthen us with your steadfast love and
transform our despairing fatigue into hope-filled action.
Under the shadow of your wings in this hour
may we find rest and strength, renewal and hope.
We ask this, inspired by the example
of your disciple, Martin Luther King, Jr.,
and in Jesus' name. Amen.

Joke
Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
