Annapolis Skyline
Dear Fellows and friends of CSLI Annapolis,

We are excited about the events scheduled in the next few months at CSLI Annapolis.

There are a full slate of events on the calendar below. You will be receiving invitations to events that are open to you.

MOST IMPORTANT:  WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR FELLOWS PROGRAM FOR THE 2016-2017 FELLOWS CLASS.
All applications are due by April 15th.

You can find the application and reference forms at:   http://www.cslewisinstitute.org/Annapolis

Apologetics Seminar March 11 and 12:

Pastor Gerry Miller will be our speaker for a two-part Apologetics Seminar on "Why Should I Trust the Scriptures?"  This is the most important issue facing our churches today: Can the Scriptures be trusted?   How do you answer the question: "Isn't the Bible just a collection of myths and stories, and a poor collection at that given all the opportunities for corruption of its content?"  Come sharpen your apologetic skills at this important seminar.

Apologetics Seminar Part I | Friday, March 11| 7-9pm| Brice House (dessert/coffee will be served)
Apologetics Seminar Part II| Saturday,  March 12| 9-11am| Brice House (pastry/coffee will be served)

You can register for this event at:

First Annual CSLI Annapolis Banquet:

Dr. John Lennox from Oxford University will be the speaker at our first Annapolis Annual Banquet on Saturday, Apr 16, 6:30pm at the Doubletree Hotel.  Invitations have gone out and you can register at:

Continuing "8 Traits of a Disciple":

In October's newsletter, we offered an introduction to  "The 8 Traits of a Disciple of Jesus", and committed to cover all eight traits over the next eight newsletters. I use these traits to disciple someone who wants to know and follow Jesus better.  The first and last of the eight newsletters contain the introduction and conclusion respectively along with the 1st and 8th trait.  If you find this useful, you are welcome to have the "Eight Traits" in their entirety for your discipleship purposes.

Trait 6. A follower of Jesus obeys God's Word.  In John 8:31, Jesus said: "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples."

We are in obedience to something, either to righteousness or sin.  Faith and obedience go together, you cannot have one without the other.  You are a slave to what you obey!

Partial obedience is disobedience;  procrastination is disobedience;  presumption (self-confidence in your ways or actions as being best) is disobedience; anything less than full surrender is only "polished sin."

"Oh, break whatever it may be
That holdeth back my heart from Thee,
Who died my heart to win!
All other love, however dear,
However old, or strong, or near,
Of which Thou art not theme and sphere,
Is only polished sin." (Mrs. J.A. Trench)  (4)

Surrender is a necessary condition for a Spirit-filled life, and surrender produces obedience.  What about your life is in disobedience to God?  Where do you need to surrender to His reign in your life?

Next month:  Trait 7

Thanks for all your support.  Lives continue to be changed through your generosity of time, money, and prayers.

Blessings,
Jim Phillips
