I was very interested this month in an article that appeared in The Wiltshire Times, where the headline screamed:
"Virgin Care buys child services in £64m privatisation deal".
Now, we all know, of course, that newspapers are prone to a bit of hyperbole and that facts can often be distorted, but I don't really see how this type of reporting and scaremongering is helping the cause that we are all hoping to achieve, namely the highest quality health and social care available.

It is true that Virgin Care has been awarded the tender for these services, but it was a tender, not a purchase as implied. Only time will tell if their way of doing things will be high quality and sustainable. Branson's own reasoning that, "
Just like airlines and financial services, when it comes to being cared for, good service and convenience can make all of the difference"
does ring alarm bells! It seems that Virgin Care and others of their ilk are here to stay and this puts organisations like us in a very difficult place ideologically and, potentially, financially. The new way of doing things in the new financial climate is taking shape and we want to be a part of it, however it is vital that we stick to our ethos, to our methods and to our belief in genuine partnership work and collaboration. As the emerging health and social care landscape unfolds in front of us, we watch and plan with anticipation and with a definite balance of excitement and trepidation.
But away from politics, we continue to concentrate on what we do well and that is delivering high quality arts experiences! Fresh Art@ Ward 4 has just started again and Nat, the instigator of the project and now a valued staff member at Creativity Works, spoke at The Holbourne Museum recently informing the audience of the success of Fresh Art@ and the importance of our partnership with the Museums.
We also have another My Time My Space starting in Cadbury Heath, and a new course just started, Beginners Writing, in central Bath. For details of this and any of our other work please do get in touch.

Business Development Manager Required
**New Vacancy**
A new vacancy for a Business Development Manager has arisen to lead in areas of fundraising; new business development; partnership development, and to provide support in development and progression for Creativity Works projects and programmes.
We are looking for a positive and proactive individual who would be comfortable being an advocate for our organisation: moving us into new and exciting collaborations and successfully gaining high profile commissions.
In particular key areas of responsibility will be:

To identify and grow new and existing revenue streams in order to improve financial performance
· To act as an ambassador for the organisation, identifying and establishing strong partnerships for delivery
· To oversee resource, evaluation and research development
Grade / Salary:
£29,371 pro rata
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
(with the potential to increase to 30 hours per week dependent on successful fundraising)

Creative Facilitation Workshop
"Inspirational", "dynamic", "action packed" and "thorough" - f
eedback from participants of Creativity Work's one day training on Creative Facilitation skills.
The course takes participants through a series of practical, creative exercises with discussion and reflection looking at: the role of a facilitator, icebreakers, introductory activities, energising activities, boundaries and sensitivities, group behaviour and journaling as a reflection tool. Activities include: movement, using natural objects, low tech animation, sound, craft activities and writing. Also included is a short presentation on socially engaged art as a framework for creative facilitation.
The workshop is a sound introduction or refresher on the skills needed to become a creative facilitator. It is suitable for creatives and artists who are interested in running workshops or creative groups. It is part of the co|Create series of socially engaged artists' continued professional development.

How to take your business further in 2016
A hands-on social media workshop for artists. Guided by Ecomedia Collective founder Kyle Hannan, host of the 'Amplify Us' podcast about DIY media-making.
Attendees will learn:
* how to evaluate and improve what you're already doing online
* the basics of making your own media for your creative business
* how to identify and tell your unique story and how to use it to flavour and enhance how you promote yourself online
* how to use free online tools and resources to build your business, understand your 'audience' and target the right activities that make the most difference to your bottom line.
* get access to a webpage filled with 'how to' resources which is theirs to use at any time in the future.
Individual attention and follow-up support is integral to this training offer.

Calling all Creative Writers!
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and engaged in the area of creative writing to support our peer-led creative writing groups for vulnerable adults dealing with mental health challenges. You would be supported by the Creativity Works team, fully inducted and taken through the DBS process. You would also have access to a range of relevant trainings made free for you as a volunteer.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to develop their skills in peer support, facilitating creative writing sessions or creative community support in general.

Round-about Radstock is a day of free arts activities, workshops, performance, live music, dance, street theatre and food, all taking place in unusual locations across the town. Perfect for the family on May bank holiday. Will you complete the trail and win the prizes?
The week after next Creativity Works' project Manager Philippa is starting silk flag workshops in Radstock as part of this project. She will be taking the workshops to four local schools and creating 20 flags celebrating Radstock and it's waterways.

As the end of their brilliant Bath Spa Graduate resident's time approaches, it's time for the world to see the body of work that he has been working on over the past 6 months at Bath Artists' Studios.

The debut solo show by Benjamin Goldfinch
Exhibiting in The Roper Gallery, Benjamin creates a dynamic visual exploration of the city and investigates the relationship between the place and the person within Bath.
By visiting various locations throughout the city and responding to his immediate thoughts and emotions, Benjamin discovers the relationships and associations he holds with his surroundings. Using his direct thought process as a starting point; his work embraces a range of themes from fact and history to personal experiences and stories. By doing this, he is able to not only investigate the city and his relationship with it, but to uncover the way in which his mind works and explore the individual connections he holds with certain places around the city.
Through striking images and designs, Benjamin is able to investigate the harmony and discord between the past, present and personal.

You will be helping to lead a hard working, creative and dedicated team of staff, steering the way in the effective growth and promotion of this expanding organisation.
Trustees meet at least 6 times a year and we encourage engagement in particular areas of work and ongoing projects.
