Our "Year in the Life of a Regenerative Bank" project; recent
Field Guide profiles of North American Global Alliance for Banking on Values member banks; and our story of The Working World and one of its major investors, Alex Payne, have given us lots of opportunities lately to study the challenges (and rewards) of practicing Regenerative Finance in the real world. Look for Capital Institute's forthcoming Regenerative Finance white paper, to be released later this year, where we will be weaving our theory of how finance should work in the Regenerative Economy with the practice we are already observing on the ground.

EVENT
AT ROLLINS COLLEGE IN WINTER PARK, FL
On the evening of January 27th, as part of our "Year in the Life" partnership with First Green Bank, we convened a discussion with the bank's CEO Ken LaRoe, Regenerative Design Educator Carol Sanford, Patagonia's Director of Philosophy Vincent Stanley, and Capital Institute Founder John Fullerton at Rollins College in Winter Park. We reflected on what "regeneration" means to us with a receptive audience packed with local social entrepreneurs. (

NEW RESOURCE BANK
Vince Siciliano became CEO of New Resource Bank in 2009, charged by a board led by Chairman Mark Finser with turning around what was then a financially troubled bank. The directive was also to firmly recommit the bank to the "green" mission upon which it was originally founded.
As our story documents, the bank has since enjoyed 15 consecutive quarters of profitability.
THE WORKING WORLD
Portrait of a Working World Investor: Alex Payne
After amassing considerable wealth in the Twitter IPO, Alex Payne found an investment home at The Working World. He would love to see more tech companies go cooperative. Meanwhile he sees his investment in The Working World as a "social hedge" against his tech investments. (
