Upcoming Sales Tax Election
|
|
|
The .25% Special Library Sales Tax will expire December 2016. In order to keep property taxes low, the City is proposing a renewal of the sales tax for general operational needs. This is not an increase in sales tax, but a continuation of the current rate.
Residents of Bonner Springs will receive mail ballots mid-March to vote on the Sales Tax proposal. Ballots must be mailed to the Wyandotte County Election Office with sufficient time to be received or returned in person by noon on April 12, 2016.

We wish to provide youth with a FUN learning experience and the opportunity to develop lifetime leisure skills. Adult sports programs are also available.

free event is from 9:00-10:30am at North Park located at 1200 South 134th St. on Saturday, March 26th, 2016.There are four age divisions with start times for each age group.
May 2 - Walking Club:
Get out and enjoy our parks! Walk the park trails with our staff every Monday and Wednesday. Become a member of the 100 mile club this summer! More information.
May 14 – 1st Annual Pickleball Tournament:
In collaboration with Turner Recreation Commission, the Bonner Springs Parks Department is proud to host the first Pickleball Tournament Bonner has seen! To get your skills in check come play with us every Tuesday & Thursday at 2 PM. Find out more!

Books, Blocks and Bubbles Young Child Fair
Saturday, April 30th from 10 am to 12 pm.
This year’s theme is “Down on the Farm”. Special features include a farm animal petting zoo and farm machinery that children can experience close up. There will also be a bubble garden, art projects, Storytime, Block Fest, and local agencies with information for families.

Legislative Coffee at the Library
The League of Women Voters of Johnson County, Bonner Springs NAACP, and the Bonner Springs Library are working together to host a coffee and Q&A with your legislators, Senator Steve Fitzgerald and Representative Tom Burroughs, at the library on Saturday, May 21, 10:30-12:00.

Paper Shred and Electronics Recycling Event
The Bonner Springs City Library will be sponsoring a Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycle Event March 10 - 17. Bring in your old bills, files, statements, and envelopes and place them in the secure carts during library hours.
Saturday, March 12th Surplus Exchange will be in our back parking lot to collect your old, broken electronics.

The Santa Fe Trail and the Civil War
Thursday, April 21 at 6:00 pm.
The Bonner Springs City Library and the Kansas Humanities Council are bringing Leo E. Oliva, former professor of history at Fort Hays State University, to Bonner Springs to speak about Civil War history.

Confirmed employers include: Bonner Springs schools (USD 204); City of Bonner Springs (Parks & Rec and Tiblow Transit); Golden Living Center; INX International Ink; Nuts and Bolts; Unified Government Transit; YMCA and the list is growing! Also on hand will be Workforce Partnership’s mobile unit, an RV with computer stations and staff to help with a variety of job-finding skills.

The Senior Center offers recreational, health, education, and creative craft opportunities to participants 55 years old and older in Bonner Springs and the surrounding area.
If you have an adventuresome spirit or just prefer the comfort of a familiar routine, you will find it here. Sign-up is required for most activities. Please contact the Senior Center for more information and to receive our monthly calendar of events by mail or e-mail.

- Wyandotte/Leavenworth Area Agency on Aging Public Hearing on March 22 at 10 a.m. to learn about programs or give feedback regarding Senior Services.
