YOUNG LEADERSHIP

Generation NXT/FFEU Charity Fundraiser
 
Held on February 18th, f ormer heavyweight champion  Mike Tyson  joined FFEU's Chair  Russell Simmons and Generation NXT Chair Louis Levy  at the  Generation NXT  7th Annual Charity Fundraiser supporting t he Foundation For Ethnic Understanding. The event  celebrated harmony between the Jewish and Muslim communities. 350 young leaders, philanthropists and celebrities alike were in attendance at PHD-Lounge.

Simmons expressed his warm thanks to Generation NXT and was compelled by the attendance of many young Jews willing to combat Islamophobia alongside Muslims.






Rabbi Marc Schneier and Russell Simmons at the Limmud Conference in Los Angeles

On January 30, Russell Simmons and Rabbi Marc Schneier of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, spoke on a panel called "Fighting For The Other" at the Limmud Conference. 750 Russian-speaking Jews from all over California participated in a weekend of learning and cultural activities.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH 

Soul To Soul

Yiddish and african music met in celebration of two cultures. Rabbi Marc Schneier and Russell Simmons introduced the concert at the Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. Rabbi Marc Schneier noted that, "it is in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King that we come together."

Let Freedom Ring

Rabbi Marc Schneier and Russell Simmons co-chair for the Let Freedom Ring Challenge. Founded in Williamsburg in 1776, the First Baptist Church is on the country's oldest African-American houses of worship including a symbol of the faith, struggle and perseverance that marks the black experience in America. The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation has pledged to restore the church bell to working condition and, along with the church, challenge the nation to ring the bell for freedom throughout the day, every day, for Black History Month.

Live Ideas: A Journey of Reflection with Rabbi Marc Schneier and Imam Shamsi Ali

On Feb. 11th at The Studio at New York Live Arts, Rabbi Marc Schneier and Imam Shamsi Ali came together for a multi-faceted conversation reflecting the worldwide journey of discovery between two widely respected spiritual leaders. 


NYCMJSC Living Museum Series Sponsored by FFEU 

Our friends & partners from the NYC Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee organized the 2nd part of Living Museum Series. On February 25th, Jews and Muslims came together over dinner at 96th Street Mosque with the support of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, Temple Emanu-El Saviv and The Islamic Cultural Center of New York.

FFEU in Europe & North Africa

Interfaith conference in Rabat, Morocco on February 23, 2016: 
FFEU European Director Samia Hathroubi spoke at the inauguration of the Center for Research and Training in Interfaith Relations. During the conference, she shared her analysis and expertise on Islam and her work on Muslim-Jewish relations in Europe.

Surfing 4 Peace
Our friends and partners from Surfing 4 Peace who took part in October 2015 to our International Season of Twinning held a peace event in Morocco in February. Please check out in a video (French) about their event in Morocco.


Festival Voice of Peace in Paris, France:
Samia  gave an interview in French about FFEU's mission in Europe especially after the November terrorist attacks in Paris. She further spoke about the challenges and ways to strengthen Muslim-Jewish relations particularly in France. This is for the upcoming Festival Voice of Peace to be held in the City Hall of Paris on  March 22nd, 2016 .
