President's Message

Donna Broderick
When March comes around I am excited to watch daffodils begin to push their leaves through the earth with a hint of color. Although the weather can't seem to make up its mind whether to cover these new buds with snow once again or continue on its path to spring, our Focus Area Committees have been busy deciding which of the enthusiastic nonprofit agency partners should receive Grant Application invitations as the review of 75 Letters of Intent has been completed.

We thank all the hardworking nonprofit agencies that submitted Letters of Intent seeking transformational ways to tackle a broad range of needs in our community.  The strength and creativity of the proposals made narrowing the field very challenging yet 24 agencies have been invited to submit a full Grant Application. The Committees are now in recess while the invited agencies work hard to prepare their Grant Applications. This is the first year our agencies will be submitting their grant applications online and we hope this will streamline the application process.

The committees will resume work in April to review the Grant Applications. This next step provides all Impact 100 members with another excellent opportunity to join a
Focus Area Committee. The committees will begin with training and welcome new members as well as those who have already served on the Committees.  Check out the section below for more information on this program or go to:   Join A Committee and fill out the form to let us know which committee you would like to join.

This year, each Focus Area will select up to two grant proposals to present to the Board.  A Board review committee will select 6-7 Finalists from these proposals. The Finalists will present their proposals at the Annual Awards Celebration in September, vying to be one of our 4 grant recipients.

We were pleased to meet many of our 111 new Impact 100 members at our New Member Welcome on February 9 th. Their enthusiasm along with that of our loyal renewing members are sure to make the Impact 100 organization larger and stronger than ever!

Impact 100 is excited to accept applications from March 1 - March 31, 2016 for our Young Philanthropist Scholarship Program for the class of 2017. Check out the section below for more information on this program or go to: Young Philanthropist Scholarship Program

The Membership Committee has created a range of activities that should appeal to the interests of all our members. Check out our home page www.impact100.org for the upcoming events.

We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you soon.

All the best,
Donna Broderick

....Reconvene in April to Review Grants!
Our Focus Area Committees (FAC's) have been busy reviewing requests for funding ("Letters of Intent") from our nonprofit partners. That work was completed in late January/early February. Nonprofits who submitted LOI's received formal communication on 2/19 regarding their eligibility to move forward in our grant review process. They were also invited to attend a training session specific for them on our new online process and to submit a Common Grant Application.

This means there is a second chance to get involved with grant review, if you wish!   Our five Focus Area Committees will begin meeting the first week of April as outlined below to review applications, go on nonprofit site visits, and ultimately, put forth 1-2 finalists who will request funding from Impact 100 membership at the Annual Awards Celebration. Meeting locations and committee chairs facilitating are the same as for LOI reviews and are posted on the website.
  • Culture: April 5th (Tuesdays, evening)
  • Education: April 6th (Wednesdays, evening)
  • Environment, Preservation & Recreation: April 4th (Mondays, evening)
  • Family: April 7th (Thursdays, evening)
  • Health & Wellness: April 5th  (Tuesdays, daytime/morning)
Impact 100's Community Investment Review Committee will begin meeting shortly thereafter on Tuesday evenings, beginning  April 19th .
