Thinking Outside the Box
March 9, 6:30 PM
This course trains PAWS teams for our Dementia Program so that they are better able to understand dementia and Alzheimer's and recognize behaviors while also guiding teams on how to provide the best visit possible to someone following this path.

Creative Connections
March 23, 6:30 PM
Sometimes petting and brushing your dog isn't enough during a visit. Working for prolonged periods of time with kids or elders sometimes calls for you to have a few extra "tricks up your sleeve." We have created a fun, hour-long class that will give you scads of ideas on easy, simple activities you can incorporate into your visits.

Sites to Celebrate

We would like to thank all of the sites we visit for supporting PAWS and Pet Therapy!  Here is just one of the sites we are proud to celebrate.

Easter Seals
This is one of the first sites PAWS partnered with - starting visits at the New Castle, DE location a few months after we were founded in 2005. We are currently providing pet therapy visits during their Saturday Respite and Saturday Social Hours programs. PAWS teams who are interested in visiting this wonderful site can contact Racine to sign up.

PAWS needs some things!
out our Wish List.

- Small toys/prizes for the Easter Bone Hunt
- Baked Goods for the Easter Bone Hunt
- Stickers for children
- Dog treats
- Mini bottles of hand sanitizer

Dog Collars
Do you have any g ently used or new flat dog collars that you no longer need?  We occasionally have potential teams arrive at training without the type of collar required for the STEX test. All sizes (teacup poodle to mastiff) are needed.

Shining Stars
Shawn Mathiesen & Enzo
Shawn & Enzo joined PAWS this past summer. Residents of Kent County, MD, the dedicated duo drive quite a distance weekly to volunteer at Dover Behavioral Health System to work with adolescents. Shawn & Enzo inspired one young women they visited with to certify her own dog as a pet therapy companion in order to help others.
Mary Hancock & Gracie
Mary & Gracie began visiting at Southgate Healthcare in Pennsville, NJ. This goldendoodle loves kids so much that Mary decided they needed to complete the reading program training, too! Now a certified PAWS for Reading team, they visit at Green-Fields Elementary School working with special needs students.
